“So let's pick the dates, Donald. I hear you're free on Wednesdays," Mr. Biden said.

🤣

Who wants to bet Trump will not show up to the debate?

[–] retrospectology@lemmy.world 35 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

Not sure why he wouldn't, he's just going to ramble over Biden and gish gallop incoherently, while Biden's just going to "come on man" his way through.

I'd rather watch a dog fucking a tire.

I read elsewhere that one of Biden’s terms was that mics are off except when one person is allotted time to speak.

[–] Railing5132@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (2 children)

That would help; I hope there's no audience as well.

[–] na_th_an@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

That's also part of the conditions Biden put forth. It's not related at all to the normal debate group that failed to moderate 2020 either.

I first read "I hope there's no audio as well." and up-voted.

Big upvote for "dog fucking a tire" 😂

[–] ChowJeeBai@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

Oh he'll show up. Then ignore all protocol and speak out of turn as usual.

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 18 points 6 months ago

That's a Thursday, can Trump get it off his criminal trials? Lol

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Two really old guys yelling at each other. Should be entertaining to watch CNN cut Trump's mic multiple times.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 16 points 6 months ago (3 children)

It's going to be a shit show...

Both parties are cutting out the nonpartisan committee thats been running debates for 30 years.

I don't think people are remembering CNN was bought by a right-wing billionaire who flat out said his plan was to make CNN more like Faux News and fired every employee who spoke out against it.

Not that CNN was great before that, but this will be a total shitshow

I agree mostly. The one thing I really like is that there won't be an audience. It really just turned into who can get the most applause. I know I'm naive but if this can be more like the Nixon/Kennedy debate, that would be so much better than what the presidential "debates" devolved into in recent years.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, audience is dumb.

Both sides just cram in people that will cheer for their team and boo the other no matter what

We just need to see them think and talk without just reading off a teleprompter.

It's less about the policy and more which geriatric candidate can string together sentences that make sense.

So hopefully we get that at least.

Found the optimist

[–] donuts@kbin.social 8 points 6 months ago

Let's be real though, the nonpartisan committee has been doing a real shitty job running the debates in recent years. No order, bad questions, shitty crowds full of wooping plants, allowing candidates to shout over eachother and make faces or side comments, etc.

America doesn't need a repeat of the last 2 election cycles.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 0 points 6 months ago

the commission on presidential debates was made by the two major parties because they wanted more control over the debates. Its always been a farce.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago (1 children)

CNN will be forced to when Trump can't shut his fucking mouth for 30 seconds.

[–] Drusas@kbin.run 8 points 6 months ago (2 children)

They have preemptively decided that the mic will immediately be turned off for the non-speaking party. So fortunately that won't be an issue this time.

[–] bazus1@lemmy.world 5 points 6 months ago

If that’s true, that’ll be a game changer.

[–] ChowJeeBai@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

I'll believe it when I see it. Because ratings.

I don't watch a ton of video content to know which ones are simply alt clients to the likes of YouTube or actually cache the media. Hopefully there is a cache or mirror that doesn't give these news outlets the views.
