Hes going to pull out of the debates. They are setting up the narrative now.

I guarantee it.

Let's set up the narrative now:

Only a fucking pussy would back down from a debate against Joe Biden.

I mean... Lemmy is a start... right? Right?

[-] Dkarma@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Then Biden gets an hour on TV to himself.

I'm ok with this.

You know what would be amazing? If wimping out meant Biden got to debate a sane republican instead. You know, someone Biden probably knew from school, like Teddy Roosevelt or something.

Hmm. The main joke here was meant to be how far back I had to go to think of a sane republican, but flubbed it with a "Biden old" punchline. Hat on a hat.

I think they are setting up the narrative to write off a poor performance. I think if he were going to pull out of the debates that they would have ramped up the rhetoric a lot more than this by now.

Leavitt, however, refused to be deflected. “Well, first of all, it would take someone five minutes to Google ‘Jake Tapper Donald Trump’ to see Jake Tapper has consistently …” she began, before Hunt cut her off.

“Ma’am, we’re going to stop this interview if you’re going to keep attacking my colleagues,” Hunt said.

The two then talked over each other, with Leavitt appearing to relish the exchange by grinning broadly. As Hunt repeated her threats to end the interview, Leavitt said: “I am stating facts that your colleagues have stated in the past …”

At that point, Hunt ended the exchange, waving her hand in an apparent signal that Leavitt should be taken off air. “OK, I’m sorry, guys – we’re going to come back out to the panel,” Hunt said.

No one is confused about what is going on here. Only CNN is unable to acknowledge what a goddamned disaster it is for this country that this sonofabitch demented orange rapist is not only not in fucking prison, but is owning the shit out of the entire republiQan cult - taking all their money and running the most batshit unqualified sycophants he can apparently find nationwide.

And CNN helped him every fucking step of the way.

Live by the Mango, die by the Mango.

No love for CNN here, but that was the right move this time. One hopes it's the fresh start they needed.

(Also? One despairs that, at long last, this is that fresh start that won't be.)

Anchor made it clear: guests can come on and talk about Trump.

The problem for this guest is that her job is to defend Trump and Trump is indefensible. All they have is to attack everyone else.

She's grinning the whole time. Her squad is the dumb fuck gullible moron squad, smiling because she's too stupid to even realize how stupid she sounds.

The Trump town hall they hosted was the last straw for me.

[-] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Maybe if major news networks had started this in 2015, we wouldn't be in the situation we're in now.

[-] CaptainKickass@lemmy.world 22 points 4 days ago

Jaja who cares what lies she was going to tell anyway

[-] chase_what_matters@lemmy.world 22 points 4 days ago

It’s not an easy choice to cut off an interview like this. I’m certain the producers in the control room had to do the calculus on whether to allow her to seed horrible misinformation and “appear” “neutral” (I know, I know), or cut her off and appear to be “suppressing the truth” (AGAIN… I know).

She came onto the show with exactly this intent. It was a win-win for the Trump campaign to pull this kind of bullshit. They’re all so fucking rotten.

[-] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 8 points 3 days ago

It was certainly staged, she went on Bannon's podcast right after complaining about it.
