Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

There is fun / silly weird, and creepy / gross weird. Trump’s fanboys are the latter.

Weird on America’s left = Portlandia

Weird on America’s right = Fixate on genitals and conspiracy theories

Yeah... on the one hand, I don’t think we should stigmatize divergency.

But on the other hand, their platform is built on enforcing their idea of normalcy, and it relies on their supporters believing that the party’s idea of normalcy coincides with their own. So pointing out how abnormal it really is isn’t just a cheap shot—it undermines one of their main goals.

The difference is that non-maga people don’t care all that much about conforming, so “werid” = ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, whereas maga people are like “weird” = “DIFFERENT AND CONFUSING THUS SCARY REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”

I couldn't have said it better myself.

There's weird as in "Keep Austin/Portland Weird", and then there's weird as in "Does this mole look weird to you?"

I'm currently engaged in a few YT comment sections and honestly, weird is the word that describes these people best. I've never seen a group of people who fall in line with a lie so fast, are utterly humour less , and lack the kind of self awareness and self respect I used to think was just natural to people.

Bro why would you engage with a youtube comment section, that is an exercise in advanced masochism 😭

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 3 months ago

Sometimes it's fun to kick the hornets nest

[–] misterdoctor@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

~~hey my wife and I got engaged in a youtube comment section too!~~

Edit: Never mind, misread the post

Hey, I love conspiracy theories. I like to know if Elvis and Batboy will be overhead in their flying convertible.

I'm also fixated on genitals. My own. Do they look nice in this lighting? How do they smell? Are those jeans going to crush them?

[–] Boozilla@lemmy.world 68 points 3 months ago (3 children)

Not sure it's an army. More like a clown car. There's more of them than you expect, they travel in a bubble, and each one that emerges is weirder than the last one.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 20 points 3 months ago

Explains why they're so loud and obnoxious

Ol’ Treason McPeePeeTape and his sidekick Couchie O’Fuckerton

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 18 points 3 months ago

I'm glad we just have no chill about this anymore.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I hope they burned that flag. If it's not supposed to touch the ground, it sure as hell shouldn't be rubbed on an asshole.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 15 points 3 months ago (1 children)

They can deny it all day long, but it's not like they can just fuck with the ballot chain of trust and fuck with the actual outcome.

[–] mozz@mbin.grits.dev 32 points 3 months ago

I think that is exactly what they plan to do

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago

His dementia seems to really be stepping up lately. The black journalists conference is something 2018 trump would never have gone to because he had the wherewithal to realize it was a bad idea. Now he's just weird and delusional and keeps forgetting what he's responding to.
