What does it do with them?

Besides be all like

[–] gofsckyourself@lemmy.world 32 points 10 months ago (3 children)

I wonder why this one's antennae are curled. Most pictures show them straight.

[–] Classy@sh.itjust.works 18 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Here's one I photographed a year ago

[–] casmael@lemm.ee 16 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What a lovely fellow he’s waving at you :3

[–] Classy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 10 months ago

He seemed very jolly. He was preening his antennae, folding them over his hands and wiping them off. Very fun to watch

Chemicals in the grass turning our fricken beetles gay!

[–] MuffinHeeler@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

I'd feel happy with those on my head too

[–] boogetyboo@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Might not be a live specimen

[–] doc_dish@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

Or one that's just emerged from its pupa(?)

Disclaimer: I know nothing about the lifecycle of glow worms

[–] atocci@lemmy.world 23 points 10 months ago

Tim Burton is the most Glowworm Beetle director I've ever seen.

Anyone else do a double-take at that thumbnail while quickly scrolling?

...

...

Alrighty then, carry on

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 10 months ago

Oh good it’s not just me. I was worried I would have to bonk myself.

Anyways…bonk

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 10 months ago

I opened expecting something else, not going to lie. But it's a nice little bug.

As I said in another reply, two words... threadbare merkin.

[–] dmention7@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

Threadbare Merkin would be an excellent band name!

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Just got her lashes did.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 6 points 10 months ago

It's gotta have great reception

[–] betahack@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago (2 children)

....that thumbnail was very misleading

[–] psud@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I'm failing to see whatever it is you see, though I clicked through to the full size picture before looking at the thumbnail, so my view of the thumbnail was influenced by having seen the full size picture

A threadbare merkin

[–] mayo_cider@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago

Best 5G reception on the block

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

When you hear radio playing at night and you wake up and see this.

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

More specifically - this is the most Helena Bonham Carter in a Tim Burton movie... etc

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Or Dr. Seuss.

[–] gwen@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 months ago
