Summary

Rupert Murdoch’s attempt to give his son Lachlan complete control over his media empire has failed.

A Nevada court ruled against Murdoch, stating he acted in bad faith and attempted to manipulate the family trust.

This decision, if upheld, will likely impact the future of Murdoch’s right-wing media empire, including Fox News and the Wall Street Journal.

Anxiety and stress actually do take years off your life. Sociopaths do not suffer from anxiety and stress.

Because only the good die young:

Reagan: 93
Thatcher: 87
Pinochet: 91
Pol Pot: 91
Kissinger: 100

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago

Let's hope they do the classic rich spoiled kids thing and drive the entire thing into the ground with pointless infighting and power struggles.

[–] VeganCheesecake@lemmy.blahaj.zone 57 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

If I remember correctly, the reason for all this was that his other kids really aren't on board with daddy's political opinions, and would be able to overrule their brother. We'll see how it turns out.

[–] AlecSadler@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

omg plzplzplz I want this so bad.

Okay but really...I want this.

[–] Clinicallydepressedpoochie@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If CNN and Fox flip it will be so funny. Your liberal grandma being all upset about trans people and wokeness and your conservative grandpa rooting for universal healthcare.

Amongst my kin its actually the business owning conservatives that are the most pro universal healthcare. They really dont like the insurance companies, also itd be cheaper for them.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 69 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Was really hoping the headline would've read "loses battle to cancer".

I find this to be actually better: his empire will either be split up and weakened by the kids infighting, or turned into something completely against everything he worked all his life to accomplish.

We get the added bonus that he will know this, think about it, and be angry about it, until the day he dies.

I, for one, am very happy.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

In my lifetime everything right wing has gotten worse. Whenever people hope for better it gets worse.... Watch FOX news get over by a literal Nazi and cut to us hoping it goes back to the "sane" days of the Murdochs............

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Can we just donate it all to charity to recoup some of the untold damage he jas done to America

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

untold damage he has done to America

UK would like a word.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 24 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty sure the whole world deserves a piece of that pie

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world -2 points 2 weeks ago

I'm not sure the UK gets to say much about the direction of the world.

Turns out an irrevocable trust is....irrevocable.

[–] coaxil@lemm.ee 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] randompasta 13 points 2 weeks ago

Someone needs to learn what the word irrevocable means. And maybe also stop being a dick.

Damn, I was hoping it was going to say he lost a battle with ass cancer. Fuck that guy with a rusty trombone.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The courts are weak against wealth. Will have to see what happens.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 10 points 2 weeks ago

This isn't a large corporation fighting a little guy, these are extremely wealthy people fighting each other. There's no one involved in this who can't afford to pay the best attorneys to fight as long as it takes

[–] 800XL@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Musk will buy it, don't worr-

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Odds on a bunch of dead Murdochs in the next couple years?

[–] IncogCyberspaceUser@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

What the hell, I didn't know he owns the WSJ...

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago
