And then when Abe Simpson told young Homer his mother was dead and never came clean until she showed up again.
Man, Abe sucks. Itโs a wonder Homer didnโt stick him in that crooked home he saw on 60 Minutes.

Well Homer routinely strangles his sonโฆ.
But he did return Bartโs turtle alive and well.
Only when he deserved it.
Homer overpolluted the lake causing the US government to isolate and eventually try to destroy all of Springfield with everyone in it.
Homer definitely fucked with multiple timeline branches in one of the earlier Treehouse of Horror episodes when he has the time machine toaster. The ecological impact of wiping out the dinosaurs in one alone alone is pretty significant.
We can't count tree house of horrors episodes.

Itโs understood that the events of Halloween episodes arenโt canon. Theyโre like Futurama What If episodes.

There is no singular canon, only what is convenient for the episode. You're right about Treehouse episodes being "less canon" than most others, but there very few things that are permanent in the show that haven't been changed or couldn't be changed in a future episode. So it's a sliding scale of "canonism"
They locked up Hugo and gave him fish heads for food. That's pretty shitty.
