Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

Then he should find out what the 2nd Amendment is for.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (3 children)

He almost did. But missed the lesson by a few inches

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

It was staged.

[–] SippyCup@feddit.nl 8 points 1 day ago
[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah, that was staged. Nothing about it was real except that they blew a MAGA Moron's head off. Not really a big loss, it's not like he was using it to hold a operational brain.

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 1 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Did they stage the dead and injured bystanders behind him as well?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

Those were sacrifices. Look up Altona Bloody Sunday. In April 1932, the fucking Nazis conducted a larger operation to win sympathy.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 13 hours ago

The hoax sells better framed with some authentic carnage.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

He’s doing it one way or another. Americans better face that.

[–] TheThrillOfTime@lemmy.ml 31 points 2 days ago (4 children)

I say let the gop change the amendment and then freak out when Obama wins a 3rd time.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 61 points 2 days ago

Fox News etc had the stupider republicans convinced that Obama was going to declare martial law to get a third term. This was something I had family members scared of.

Every accusation is a projection…

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They're trying to wittle it down to non-consecutive terms so it ONLY applies to Trump, but I agree. Run Michele as President and Barack as VP. Show them what thefuck is what.

[–] photonic_sorcerer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That would apply to Obama's hypothetical third term too, no?

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They're literally trying to specify "non-consecutive". Barack already had his two terms do is not eligible.

They're just throwing shit at the wall at this point.

And their minds will explode if he does the inauguration in a tan suit.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

Which he absolutely should do, and to rub it in even harder get some Kenyan tribesmen to do a traditional African dance. Really fuck with them as hard as humanly possible.

So Obama can run against him then?

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 132 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Of course not, the two cases are totally different. They're so different, it's like black and white....

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 99 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 39 points 2 days ago

This is... The most accurate

[–] Dragomus@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

They're so different that if he tries he will be shot, either through official order or some frothing at the mouth maniac.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 34 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (7 children)

Well, trump wouldn't be elected into position - that is explicitly prohibited. So no running for him or Obama.

The "loophole" is that he's trying to line up a coordinated effort to elect other GOP members. After elected they'll nominate trump into the line of succession as Secretary of State or another unelected position. Once the pawns are in place, the line of succession simply has to step down until it falls to him. Third term without breaking the "elected twice to office" condition.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

IMO this is just to test the base and get them used to him stay in the office until he dies then someone from his family takes over or maybe musk himself.

The goal is a dictatorship and if there will be an election it will be a sham one line putin has.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I agree it would be a temporary measure. Realistically Republicans only need ~6 more governors on board before they can start talking constitutional amendments, and do away with these pesky restrictions all together.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Six flips is asking a lot when Red states are tending to lean more purple these days.

Walmart is way too entrenched to switch. They own the supply chain from the soil to the store. They write half the ag bills.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 73 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I predict that there will be no consequences.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 24 points 2 days ago (5 children)

At this point we are the only consequence he can get. Congress refuses to act, courts do, but he started to ignore them, institutions are gutted.

This unfortunately won't end without us going on the streets.

It's easy. If there's too much pushback, he's "just joking." Then he'll do it anyway. He "doesn't want to," but he "has to for national security." Then he'll talk about how "foreign governments don't want me to be president because I'm too good, America has never been greater, China wants me out. They've put viruses in the those vote counting things. You can't trust an election. The whole system needs to be fixed. It's war. It's too dangerous to have an election in war time. Our enemies are paying people to vote illegally. They look like us now. They're smart. They're really evil, but they're smart these Chinese. They look like us and sound like us. They have Canadians coming down here and stuffing ballots and they look like us. Those Canadians really sneaky, they look like us. It's true. They look like us. And their country is so terrible, it's sad, Canada, they have no money. They totally relied on us and I shut it all down. They were stealing from us with their tariffs. Do you remember that? They were stealing from us, and I shut them down, and now they're broke. It's so sad. So sad. But now they take money from China and stuff our ballots. And China gets in there with their computers and their viruses, they're really smart those Chinese. Ching chong ping pong and they're inside the computer. I don't know how they do it but they do it. It's true, they just go right inside our counting things, because our guys are so dumb. They really are. It's all immigrants in our universities and they can't keep up with these Chinese. But they wouldn't listen to me. I kept saying, 'we have to stop with all these immigrant students.' But did they stop? No, because they didn't believe me. They didn't believe me! And now we have all these immigrant students, and they're so dumb. It's sad how dumb they are. And our guys can't keep up because there's so many of them. They send them over in waves. It's like an invasion. Wave after wave of these immigrants, they say they're students, but it's an invasion. That's what it is, an invasion. Because we're at war, and we can't have an election when we're at war because it's not safe. So I'll stay president, because I'm the best. It'll be great. I'm great. I really am. Look how I shut down Canada. They'll be begging us to take them over any day now. They're already saying it, Canadians. They hate their government. So weak. Their Governor doesn't know what he's doing. He's so bad. So we'll rescue the Canadians. That's what I'll do, I'll rescue the Canadians. We'll get them one way or another. Because they're attacking us. They're sneaky you know. Those Canadians. They look like us and they're stuffing our ballots. They do it all the time. So we can't have an election. I want to have an election. I really do. I want to. But we can't. We just can't. We're at war. We can't do it."

Sorry 'boot that, eh.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I recommend some paragraph breaks my friend.

[–] JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 2 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (2 children)

I would if I could.

I can't, so I'm passing the friendly advice on. Been writing and working in communications for years, not trying to be an ass, but literally if you want your points better understood, you have to give the reader "pauses" in their mental dialogue.

Someone made fun of me several decades ago for it, I was butthurt, but I got better. I pass it forward.

[–] JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca 1 points 6 hours ago

It was a joke. Look at the other stuff I write.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 12 hours ago

Yeah, I stopped reading after the first sentence when I saw the size of that paragraph.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago

Yeah, no shit. That what progressives told you this fat fucking fascist would do.

[–] Kurious84@lemmings.world 28 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Why three terms? If hes doing such a good job when do we need elections anymore? We need trump till death and then then name his successor. It wont be JD. Itll likely be someone from his family. Ivanka fits the bill. He needs to get JD out and let ivanka in.

[–] molten@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Careful, the scrapers might give the wrong message and this comment could end up in a 3 IQ news story about how alternative social media is warming to trump.

Not really. But they are that fucking stupid.

[–] TronBronson@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago

Just this huh not the…. points at dozens of examples of what dictators do

[–] Montreal_Metro@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

Spoiler: he won’t live to run a third term.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 13 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

HE has ALREADY done what dictators do. GAME OVER!

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Its not game over, not by a long shot. Its not even game over if the fascists solidify their rule. There will always be dissidence and rebellion. If you're feeling like we're not doing enough right now you aren't involved with the right groups. There are people.setting things in motion against these all over the country. Let's shake these AI blues and start rebuilding our faith in each other and our communities. Fascists are only strong when the people are isolated.
