Anyone who hasn't watched Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator really should. In the movie they mock how Mussolini was simping for Hitler and wanted to impress him by trying to one-up him at every occasion.

This is totally what Trump is trying to do with Putin right now. Trump is a Putin simp desperate to get his attention.

Just for the historical record, here's Mussolini's last public appearance:

If this isn't waste, fraud, and abuse, I don't know what is.

Other unnamed officials told the paper that a big military parade will require a huge amount of coordination between the six branches of the armed forces, along with several federal agencies and regional officials.

If it happens it'll be a shit show...

To quote Henry Zebrowski:

I have a bad idea, and I'm gonna execute it poorly

Let's make a four mile parade of people holding "fuck you, fascist" signs, instead.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

That’s an interesting strategy question. Would it be more effective to not show up, knowing there will be swarms of magats anyway, or to create a huge protest? At what point does lack of an audience trump a protesting audience, and what will they claim for attendance?

[–] Rivalarrival 7 points 6 days ago (1 children)

About 6 miles, per the various youtube videos I've spent the last 37 minutes watching.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nice. Be better used in a multi-target area though, due to shrapnel damage.

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Luckily he's always in a multi-target area.
