Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

They don't make comedy movies anymore and standup which has always been mostly trash is now the worst its ever been. We used to make Rick Moranises and Kids In Halls in this country.

Coleslaw deserves a second chance. I remember when coleslaw used to practically anchor a meal. Now it just sits on the side.

Every single Buddy Cole monologue needs to be a tagline on this website

I've got a pretty good Scott Thompob story. Met him after a show and we had some drinks and he was talking about how there used to be a pretty thriving bathhouse scene where I grew up and at the peak of kids in the hall he was there and a dude with a a leather mask and funnel in his mouth was there and it was pretty clear what was going on there so after a few drinks he decided to go for it and before he could unzip the dude unzipped his mask first and said 'sorry Scott. I'm just not a fan.'

He said any sense of celebrity he was still holding died. Probably saved the troop according him

incredible story and I have no trouble believing it

All I can say is that it's a story he told me. It is very possible a professional comedian had some bullshit stories in the pocket but it's generally believable. I don't think he believed wither his sense of celebrity died cause he kept doing a lot of coke for years after and I doubt he genuinely thought he saved the troupe cause comedians tend to tell jokes. I've met most of the kids in the hall, aside from Bruce which bums me out. Meeting Canadian celebrities in Canada just means you've worked at bars or late night takeout places. Met Jack Layton randomly once while we watched a guy jump into a body of water way too large to swim away from cops to avoid an arrest. He just happened to be standing next to me at a public event when this scen went down. It's a fucking huge country but only like 45 people live here.

Lmao that's fantastic. I got to meet the crew when they did Death Comes to Town, and they're all so nice to be around. Dave Foley was the least i met, but Scott and Bruce were so much fun to talk to.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bruce is the only one I haven't met and also the one I want to meet the most. Kids in the Hall has been a huge influence on me but Bruce's stuff specifically had this beautiful vulnerability to it that I can relate to a LOT. I still see the ham of truth

I feel that KITH is a weird stepfather to this site. Like SomethingAwful, theres a Kevin Mcdonald character thatd'd be super in here.

Hey nothing particularly wrong with Biebs that I know of

Hopefully, his next stop is an El Salvadoran gulag.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 46 points 1 day ago

in hindsight it was an obvious mistake to not put a 200% tariff on Jordan Peterson imports

Least unsurprising move ever? His entire base is burgerbrained young men living in the USA.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

I think you mean "least surprising" since you are saying it's predictable

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Least unsurprising

Double negatives make my brain itch.

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

least isn't a negative though?

[–] Jiggs@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Let me make it negative for you

You could view least amount as something with portion subtracted compared to "normal" amount. Subtraction could be viewed as addition of negative value. So there, it's negative in its core.

Sorry, I though a little too hard about it and had to share

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

right.. I see it now.. actually I think I misread the "unsurprising" as "surprising" originally which is why I didn't understand the double-negative comment. My bad.

I thought he was a burger all this time.

A lot of the worst voices for the burger empire actually come from/live in the burger empire's hat.
