Post the names of youtubers and other internet microcelebs you hate with a burning passion based on vibes alone. I am aware that youtubers are an inherently reactionary group of organisms ^[it-is-known ], but some suck at statistically significant levels.

I really hate V-tubers. It's just the same old reaction slop but behind a creepy 3D anime girl and with a creepy high pitched voice. And they really love nazism and pedophilia.

[–] Aquilae@hexbear.net 1 points 11 minutes ago

Futakuchi Mana is a comrade though and makes some bangers

But that's also why she doesn't like being called a vtuber lol

CGPGrey is at the very least flirting with "rationalism" and might be the smuggest man in existence His content isn't offensive, he doesn't hurt anyone, and he's not actively a bad guy in any meaningful way that I know of. But you asked for youtubers we dislike for their vibes, so that's my answer.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 14 points 1 hour ago

He actively spreads misinformation, as most of his videos are based on a single source, and he never actually examines how legit the source is. His stuff always "makes sense" and sounds well thought out, but it actively makes its audience dumber, while think they are learning something.

His worst offender is his Americapox videos, in which he literally says Native Americans "are at the bottom of the (video game) tech tree." because their native animals were too hard to domesticate. Treating development of cultures and technology as a linear video game style progression is bad enough, but the source for his pair of videos is "Guns Germs and Steel" a notorious pop-history book that has recieved a lot of negative criticism from historians for its inaccurate and infantilising depictions of native American civilisations, amongst other things, painting the conquest of the Americas as an "us or them" style thing, portraying it as "inevitable" and making absurd and insulting claims about native American groups, like the Inca being too stupid to know what an ambush was, because they didn't have horses.

And when the innacuracies and downright racism of his source was called out, CGPGrey doubled down, instead of admitting fault, first he did the standard youtuber tantrum of "if you don't like it, make your own video/I have more subscribers than you which means I'm right" sort of thing, and then when that didn't work, he declared his videos were a "joke" and he was just trolling historians with them.

Dude claims to be an intellectual, but can't ever admit the possibility that he is wrong or did poor research, in turn I think that means we can't really trust anything he produces. It's the "guy with a vaguely British accent says a thing with authority, so it must be intelligent and correct." sort of content.

The whole platform. It’s the 21st century’s reinvention of trash tv, but worse. At least in the days of broadcast tv everyone watched the same shitty broadcast so led to a sense of a collective experience and the slop was made by tv production workers in a union.

I still can’t believe that I used to watch this piece of shit for years. I only stopped because in one of his videos he called trans women disgusting. catgirl-hiss

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 7 points 2 hours ago (2 children)
[–] huf@hexbear.net 1 points 31 minutes ago

oh god that joshua weissman video thumbnail grin. we need that as an emoji, it's at least as iconic and awful as the mr beast death grin

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 4 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Watch one kenji lopez video and your reccos will be full of orange shirt minstrelism and a four eyed fuckhead who thinks playing the pornhub sting beneath a montage of diced heirloom tomatoes is the last word in comedy

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 6 points 2 hours ago

I don't really like any "drama" YouTubers, like Keem, Spill, or Iilluminaughtii. It all seems like low effort slop with literally no value.

The only good gossip happens in-person.

[–] SockOlm@hexbear.net 11 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Marques Brownlee – typical tech bro, was speeding in a school zone for one of his videos.

Linus Tech Tips – so many things, but the worst was probably how they treat their employees. Emily is cool though.

Mark Rober – seems like a genuinely awful human being, has a series where he humiliates and catches porch pirates, because obviously the solution to stealing is to lock them all up. Collabs with MrBeast.

theprimagen – AI bro, over the top, loud.

Almost every YouTuber who makes tech-related content tbh.

[–] Andrzej3K@hexbear.net 6 points 3 hours ago

theprimeagen is loud and annoying, but he's been very loudly and annoyingly AI sceptical imo. Ngl I like a lot of his takes wrt coding, but you just know that mf has terrible politics lol

[–] whatdoiputhere12@hexbear.net 5 points 3 hours ago

I noticed that the YouTubers I thought I hated, I just found that their content wasn’t my cup of tea, like I dont actually hate them, my brain just automatically hates them (which speaks more about me but anyway) Do genuinely despise muta and pewdiepie. I have a guilty pleasure for slop channels

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 10 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

Nearly all reaction channels because they all turn into nazi lite chuds. They'll be seeing a fucking Confederate say the dumbest shit and they'll be like "hmmm you know he has a point". Its like seeing a person radicalized in realtime. I hate these people with every fiber of my being. I hate how stupid they are and I hate that their audience is every bit as brain dead.

I hate how influential these talentless hacks are and the fact that so many get influenced by them and throw away their weak convictions and just hop on racist dick. I despise how the Poc ones buck their eyes or play to a racial stereotype for their followers anf know exactly what the fuck they're doing but act dumb. I absolutely despise..... Let me not go further it will be fed posting.

[–] novibe@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 hour ago

I used to watch reaction channels a lot, and yeah 99% turned out to be either radlibs or straight up chuds…

But I still watch and enjoy Drew Gooden. He’s just funny, and seems to not be completely brainwormed. Correct me if I’m wrong tho lol

[–] Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net 20 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Mr Beast. Even if he wasn't a horrible shill for capitalism, the vibe of his video thumbnails alone make me want to punch puppies.

I hate SEO face and his is the worst.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 14 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I hate Tim Pool. He's just annoyingly stupid and he has a massive audience.

Non political ones, I hate that bald British guy that just does work for a bunch of channels. Annoyingly prevalent all over the platform.

[–] doleo@lemmy.one 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Is that Simon Whistler? If it is, I'm with you on that one.

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 2 points 2 hours ago

I didn't realize he had a name, I thought he was just an avatar of YouTube itself

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 16 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

I barely even know them, but the Green brothers, specifically Hank Green, are self-important dipshits who are not nearly as smart, funny or influential as they believe they are and i will laugh at their downfall

the guy just looks and sounds like a dweeb and thinks he runs tiktok

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 7 points 3 hours ago

Hank green always ruins everything he guests in for me. I don't like his smug face. Whenever he was on lateral with Tom Scott I would just skip it, and I really like lateral.

[–] Weedian@hexbear.net 13 points 5 hours ago (2 children)
[–] VHS@hexbear.net 9 points 4 hours ago

Was he one of those shitheads who fantasizes about shooting Black or LGBT people? Seems common with a lot of gun nuts

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 8 points 4 hours ago

theres a related one called 'administrative results' who is even more overtly fascist.

and that brandon herrera guy

[–] Guamer@hexbear.net 10 points 5 hours ago

The only ones I really hate are the usual suspects of outrage/culture war chuds whining about the latest woman/poc/etc. in fiction. If I get even a whiff of them in my recommended, I block the whole channel to purify my algorithm.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Jill Bearup tricked me for a while by being the rare exception to Riley's Law

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Her vibes felt rancid after a while, but idk what Riley's law is.

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

"Once someone posts transphobia, they never post normal again" is Riley's Law

She managed to post normal about things other than being a transphobe despite being a transphobe.

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 3 points 3 hours ago

Oh she is? Can't say I'm surprised, but I'm surprised I didn't find out sooner.

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

i used to like dougdoug but he just make ai slop now :(

other than that i don't engage with things i don't like

[–] stinky7@hexbear.net 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

and he's a "completed unregulated capitalism will solve all our problems" type, unfortunately. he's still really funny imo tho

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 7 points 4 hours ago

i have issues watching ppl with morals i heavily disagree with even if it's entertaining. autism thing ig

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 12 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think I could name a single youtuber. I use youtube primarily for music videos and somewhat rarely "how the fuck do you do this particular thing?" (usually video games).

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago

Sounds like a good place to be

[–] imogen_underscore@hexbear.net 17 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

not hate but GDF gives me bad vibes, also i think that guy Half as Interesting is a fed but it's completely vibes based lol

[–] HoiPolloi@hexbear.net 5 points 3 hours ago

I agree about GDF, the comments to his videos are a big red flag.

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 8 points 4 hours ago

easy to get fed vibes from a lot of "educational youtube" because 100% of their research is reading the natopedia page.

[–] gramxi@hexbear.net 8 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

when I was a teenager there was guy named jimmyr who made youtube tutorials about how to pirate-jammin using Google and he had his own content aggregator that introduced me to Reddit. I kind of wonder if not for him I would've turned out at least 30% more normal
