the guy is unraveling, every public appearance his tone and verbage become more desperate as journalists pick apart his garbage. but you know what he won't consider? stopping, going home and maybe focusing on his own life instead of worrying about how he can manipulate all of ours.

[-] urfavlaura@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago

He really wants to turn it into Nazi Germany too.

Who's going to shoot them? DeSantis with his pudding fingers?

Because even the police didn't like the barbed wire in the river.

And they already have guns.... so.... what? We force them to use them? Maybe we can put bounties on kills! The ones that are pregnant or below the age of 6 would be worth double points! Let's abandon reasonable evil ,lets just go full blow blown psychological evil. /s

All because someone is a different shade of skin..... :(

I’m really hoping that Disney does something fantastic at Epcot Mexico as a response to this.

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 11 points 10 months ago

Sure, the corporations will save us. Btw have you seen the new Disney planned communities?

[-] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 15 points 10 months ago

No, and I’m not holding Disney up on a pedestal by any means, but they seem to be the only ones who can really speak up to Ron’s rhetoric and actions and have a meaningful impact (like the monorail thing).

The enemy of my enemy and such.

[-] JWBananas@startrek.website 1 points 10 months ago

Sure, until Robert bin Iger flips and turns the Mousekedeen into the Tinkerban.

I don’t think he will (waaayyyyy too much IP & $$$ on the line, plus the cost of basically rebranding a fuck ton of shit from rides to merch to movies/TV), but if he does, he can go stand by one of those Disney lakes with the gators and cry about his dwindling million dollar bonuses.

The board and investors would be pissed off too because their wallets depend on him making good decisions.

They’ll turn on you, on a dime.

You can enjoy the fact that Disney is fucking with DE Santis without "siding" with them in any meaningful way

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 0 points 10 months ago

And I do. But that is a dual edged sword, and I’m not kidding myself.

[-] stephen01king@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 months ago

Sure, but until then, who can fight him more effectively?

[-] Retrograde@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

I don't usually side with corporations, but when I do, it's because they are at war with Ron desantis

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 4 points 10 months ago

I know. It’s just sad that this is a “best” hope.

[-] Retrograde@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah it's pretty dystopian and sad for sure

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 1 points 10 months ago

Yep. Let’s see how it plays out.

[-] AlligatorBlizzard@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

I did k-12 in Celebration, are they really trying that Stepfordian experiment again?

[-] Maeve@kbin.social 3 points 10 months ago

Yes they are. Apologies for the crap source but a quick search will pull up the medium of your choice: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/disney-storyliving-communities/index.html

[-] LoopingRiver@lemm.ee 14 points 10 months ago

Can we turn the border with Florida into the East German wall instead?

[-] ClaireDeLuna@lemmy.world 25 points 10 months ago

Please no I am trying to leave

[-] CarbonatedPastaSauce@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Sacrifices must be made for the greater good. I'm sorry.
