It seems to me like Cuba became more acceptable to western / NATO leftists when it became more common knowledge how ahead-of-the-curve they are on LGBT stuff. I have no evidence, just anecdotally, I noticed a shift around the time Cuba passed that big bill that codified tons of rights.
Like "oh I finally learned one whole thing about Cuba, they did a democracy to be nice to the LGBT-types that I sexually harass on social media DMs, they're good now." Which ... alright, fuck it. I'll take it.

Does WTYP have a reputation for lib shit? I was binging them a while ago and my impression was basically "pretty good politically, probably could be better but I'm not complaining"
I went through a phase where I listened to a ton of it and encountered nothing concerning and was enjoying it quite a bit, then there were a couple where Liam and Alice said some stupid radlib nonsense and I guess went completely feral when they got a little pushback.
Then they brought on Adam Something, a "former Nazi" to shit all over the Soviet Union and other eastern bloc countries and whined continuously about tankies. I told myself "I listen to other podcasts whose hosts aren't actual communists, I can just skip to other episodes" but found that all the episodes after that had one moment or another of Liam and Alice whining about 
I followed Adam Something until the Ukraine war started, and then found out he’s completely bonkers. He’s made at least two videos on how a nuclear retaliation against Russia might be good, actually.

I am once again asking the left to stop chasing after fascists and putting their efforts into converting fascists but instead to put their efforts into closely vetting the people who they allow to become leaders.
We've really gotta stop glamourising ex-fascists and start viewing them with a deeply critical lens.
Either they're just a flip-flopper/grifter like Faraday Speaks ("So I watched some YouTube videos from reactionaries and I decided I was also a reactionary, then I watched some videos from leftists and I decided that I'm now a leftist, since then I have decided that I'm some sort of centrist [I think? I'm happy to give golf claps to converts who get paraded around as proof that people can change etc. but there's a reason why the black community doesn't immediately stick the ex-Klansmen who had a change of heart a fortnight ago into a position of leadership; the left needs to be warm and welcoming to people who are new but there's a massive difference between extending hospitality and appointing people to positions of leadership and throwing tons of cash their way.

Yeah, I'm all for converting Fascists and they have a role in preventing people from becoming fash. But You Do Not Let Them Become Cadre. Or propagandists outside a narrow sphere of anti fascism. They're simply not politically reliable.

Liam is proudly anti-communist, American and anti-intellectual. Alice can have some pretty bad takes but it's overall fine, the real issue is she folds really quickly to the peer pressure when Liam starts getting aggressive while Rocz just wants to talk about trains. So the general dynamic is Alice will say something vaguely communist then Liam will start yelling insane half remembered black book shit at her until she goes "I guess that's true..." to get him to stop. There will be an awkward pause then Rocz will resume talking about trains.
I never thought I'd miss the mansplaining discourse circa 2010 but here I am, desperate for the unearned confidence of a wildly below average man yelling over a woman until she submits to be called out.
I really do hate the guy. He loves to brag about just being the most selfish piece of shit and putting other people's lives at risk. He revels in the fact that he refuses to learn anything - not just politically, but on any topic they cover that's not like beer and sports. This would be too on the nose as a caricature making fun of the average American.

Liam is the fucking worst and ruins the whole thing. Alice sometimes sucks and is best left talking about bond movies. Rocz is the only worthwhile host.

I simply avoid any historical and political episodes so that I can keep enjoying the show
