That food should be free. We have too much already, not reason it should not be.

[–] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not all food though, only the food I like.

Boiled peanuts $13.99/oz under glorious KiG V2 socialism

[–] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago

: (

Under the vanguard proletarian leadership of ComradeSalad, all peanuts will be $0.05 a pound!

Complimentary cashews will also be free

The library, its much more natural than reading PDFs of book, and much cheaper than buying physical copies

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Also books get so much more value in a library. Think about it, how many times a single book gets read on a library vs a book in your house.

I bought a secondhand Lenin's Selected Works retired from public library and there were old library cards in it. In over 60 years it hasn't been borrowed even once :S

We're supposed to be mad! Not 'Aww'ing in the cuteness!

[–] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well now you can be mad about this, so it all works out :)

Oh yeah you're right! grrrr I'm jealous.

nah, happy for ya'll. Hoping I get lucky somehow and just get some extrovert to take pity on me lol.

When I worked at a nursing home in High School for my CNA course, I learned that I wasn’t going to be paid and my Father lost his job around then, meaning that I wouldn’t be able to pay for my certification but would still need to show up to work there. I was the only male in class so I had to take care of every male patient and give them baths, wipe their asses, I even noticed an issue with a patient’s stool that a doctor didn’t know about, all that and I didn’t get paid. The staff were also very rude and above all else they were on your ass and watching your every move to make sure you don’t break rules or do something wrong in any way, but when you needed help they’re nowhere to be seen. The day that I realized I wouldn’t be able to pay for the test and I wasn’t going to receive any money or certification for my work, I went to the bathroom and almost cried. I had been taught to hate Lenin all my life and I was a Bernie supporter but I decided while I was in the bathroom to read a quick biography of Lenin’s life, read a few lines of speeches. Ever since that moment, I despise the people who run that place. It’s been a few years and to this day I still hope the owner of that place rots in hell for making certificates so expensive and for exploiting underage people for free labor. Fuck those people, I will remember those pricks until I die, I’m not letting that grudge go anytime soon.

that linux is superior in every shape and form, fight me

[–] comradecalzone@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's so good that even Windows has the Linux (optionally) embedded now.

Still like the Windows GUI the best, though KDE Plasma comes close.

[–] Stalins_Spoon@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imo the Windows UI is inconsistent and not as customizable as any WM or DE

[–] comradecalzone@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I mean desktop environment when I say "UI." It's less about customizability and more about stability for me. Dolphin just crashes way too much for me in KDE Plasma. Like, anytime I do a search. I just go to the command line instead, which is unfortunate for a UI.

Compositing with X server is a mess with multiple monitors running with different refresh rates. Need to try Wayland and see if that's any better.

Also the snap-to on the edges for organizing multiple windows isn't quite as smooth. Still a million times better than Mac OSX.

But, it's open, free, comparable to Windows DE, and yeah you're right, much more customizable.

Also to be fair it's been awhile since I've given Gnome or some other DE a shot.

Still can’t get over that last season of GOT. It’s almost masterful how much they fucked it up.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Show stopped being good long before that season lol.

[–] FishLake@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Oh undoubtedly. The engines on that series started to really fail in season 5. But they didn’t even attempt to land the plane. They drove it straight into the ground.

[–] DankZedong@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought long and hard about this question. I don't think there is any stuff that I'm attached enough to to not let go.

My family and my partner of course, but that's too obvious of an answer.

I'd say I won't let go of my rebellious spirit as it is one of the most important things that defines me. I'd even say it is the most important thing that has gotten me this far in life.

[–] kig_v2@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 year ago

That is good as many will try and gaslight you into thinking such spirit is immaturity, or at least in my experience. Not rebellion for rebellion's sake even, just being assertive and wanting baseline dignity and respect is seen as childish to those who surrender everything for a paycheck

my inherent distrust of the middle class
to pre-empt any "well, actuallys", i come from a place that it actually means something
aka not america

[–] Shrike502@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

In what kind of place would this term mean anything?

[–] commiewolf@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 1 year ago

I just take it to mean "Working class with Bourgeois aspirations". Otherwise if one is implying theres something between working and capitalist, then that's nonsense.

[–] darkcalling@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

JJ Abbrams and the abomination of new Trek. I swear if I live to see the revolution that those jerks will pay (with 20 hour day hard labor or worse) for fucking with our series.

[–] comradecalzone@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 1 year ago

Honestly I feel like it began with First Contact, but yeah Nu Trek is largely unfortunate.

Still kinda like Star Trek Beyond though. Probably most I enjoyed a Star Trek movie since The Undiscovered Country

[–] Kirbywithwhip1987@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Disney will pay for everything they did to Star Wars

idk what gaming implies but i think normal gaming is ok, on the other hand competetive gaming is absurd: 360fps@4k required, 10000dpi mouse (dafuq), optomechanical keyboard for nanosecond response lol (although i bought into one thou, didnt cost me a leg at least) ..just game responsibly at 1080 at normal dps and all should be fine..also cutting on those energy drinks would be an extra. hardcore gaming is just straight consumerism. also i loathe twitch streaming..such a waste of bandwidth and resources

its a weed vape d/w it helps me communicate with 5d entities

[–] kig_v2@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Still, not to be a naggy grandma but it will destroy your lung capacity much more than smoking straight flower, though I understand as I myself used to enjoy vaping weed. Way better than nic vapes too.

I'm not sure if you are joking, but if you are in communication with any entities I'd love to hear all about it!

I balance it out with an active lifestyle + a lot of working out. Its not harmless but the risk profile is reduced enough I feel comfy making it a daily thing.

Only half joking, changa is nice.

I've done it quite a lot, its nice.

In all the psychs i've done I would probably say its the easiest going in terms of mental load as it doesnt really effect your mental processes in the way other drugs like acid does; there is little to no dissiciotation and I find it pretty easy to manage.

The high usually lasts about 10-15 minutes, I do it about 1-2 times a year during camping trips with some friends on a sunny day in the summer and its perfect because you sober up quickly, its hard to have a bad time with it and it doesnt make your body feel tired in the same way other drugs do.

DMT in the 80s was known as the 'buisness mans high' for ages for a reason; its the type of drug a travelling buisness person could go smoke in there hotel room at lunch during a conference and return to work afterwards completely sober.

Only word of warning with Changa specifically is that its mixed with a MAOI tea leave usually, which means you shouldnt mix it with booze or anti-depressants/medication that interact badly with it; if you cant drink on the medication you use you shouldnt use Changa either.

Did you speak to any entities? What sort of crazy stuff happened?

[–] ghost_of_faso2@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Did you speak to any entities?

Nah, i've had a few out of body moments with it but its a strange feeling; DMT more than any other drug really occupies that 'third eye' part of your perception if that makes sense, you can keep your eyes open during it and you will be seeing reality distorted, while also being aware of the image its generating inside your head.

Sort of how you can imagine a picture of a chair without having to close your eyes, it exists there.

What sort of crazy stuff happened?

Strong fully immersive closed eyes visuals, distortions of time, distortions of music.
