Hey look here, our old interface while newish, is still 100% better than that other sites new interface. Look deep.
How do we know what we see is new if our eyes are old?

Can it have the old logo? I liked that one.
Done.
Thank you!! This is so cool
🤔
This is the perfect instance

My eyes burn so good. Seriously though, I can't figure out why Dark Reader refuses to turn on for it.
Dark reader doesn't currently treat subdomains differently from the base domain. So if you've disabled it for beehaw.org
, it'll be disabled for old.beehaw.org
.
There is a 5 year old issue on this...
Odd, it wouldn't even let me enable it for old.beehaw.org
until I turned it on for beehaw.org
. Strange issue, but thanks for sharing! I managed to get it enabled.
Something else to bear in mind, both sites have their own dark mode you can enable.
Penguincoder is such a blessing to this server 🙏
Definitely nice to have, thanks. I have gotten used to Lemmy's UI, which, honestly, isn't that bad, especially when compared to the other site's new UI. But I'm gonna give this one a try either way, as I might find myself reminiscent of it.
Actually like how Beehaw looks, and the flow of using it is a lot better than the rest of the Fediverse, but on a small screen this "old" style is much easier for me to use.
It'd be cool if one day we could load up *ES settings to run here, but I'd guess two sites are so different under the bonnet, that such wranglings may not be viable.
Figured this was a good a place as any... when loading this post, it always reports the server is under maintenance: https://beehaw.org/post/7563292
Thanks for letting us know. Unfortunately, Lemmy itself does not distinguish between a 404
and a 500
error, typically passing the 502
instead of the not found. Working on fixing that properly and also finding an acceptable workaround.
It appears to work with RES. I am sold.
Can't figure out how to get it going with RES, despite a trawl through the settings. If you can give any pointers I'd be grateful.
I honestly don't know. I had been using old.beehaw.org for a day or so when I noticed my browser had populated some communities to the shortcuts across the top, which is when I posted the previous comment, but when I tried to rearrange them (as you can do in RES) that didn't work. So maybe it's not actually RES but just an attempt to make it visually the same as RES?
Ah yeah. Mine has this also, but I dimly recall the other site had that without RES enabled, at least when not signed in?
Fair enough, I was mistaken. I still actually prefer this layout.
