Hey! What’s this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like … ow … ound … round … ground! That’s it! That’s a good name – ground!

I wonder if it will be friends with me?

If the whale is closer to the camera than America, doesn't that mean that it's still to scale but has a warped perspective?

[–] niktemadur@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

Ah yes, that ol' Disneyland Main Street trick, forced perspective.

What is this, a country for ants?

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Looking good OP's mom

[–] don@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago

[–] letsgo@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago (2 children)

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago

[–] Slovene@feddit.nl 1 points 5 months ago

[–] Twinkletoes@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Whales don’t have scales 😉

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

[–] Cosmicomical@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (2 children)

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

To scale though. You can tell because Oklahoma is the armpit along with Arizona...

[–] kindenough@kbin.earth 2 points 5 months ago

[–] ZeffSyde@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Imagine how massive the camera that took that picture is!

[–] MacNCheezus 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

That's not how cameras work. It could also simply be normal-size camera very far away.

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 3 points 5 months ago

With a good depth of field!

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago

And yet, multiple ones fit nicely next to England.

[–] wafflez@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

So whats a real whale to US scale look like then?

[–] bruhduh@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago
