perfect marketing, no notes. when I stepped out of the theater after seeing Jurassic World in 2015, I remember saying to myself, "oh boy I can't wait to see what those guys produce next!"

The tv and movie industry is so clogged up with producers that think that paying for shit makes them creatives.

They made a sequel to twister?

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 17 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The original title was 2 Fast 2 Twister: Oklahoma Drift, but I guess test audiences don't appreciate pure kino so they changed the name.

They need to bring back "Bride of ____" style movies so we can make Sister of Twister and have Dee Snyder cameo

I thought it was a sequel because there are two twisters this time

[–] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

There was like 5 twisters in the original

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

How many at the same time though?

[–] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

There's one scene with two

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

Plot twist[er]: there's only one twister, but it looks like two because you were watching the 3D version

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah?

It's just another movie about helping people during tornados and then eventually sciencing a tornado away

But it has no ties to the first movie aside from involving tornados

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Did they nuke the tornadoes?

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (2 children)

No, they drop absorbent polymer into them and then suck all the moisture out to force it to collapse

Yeah, it's actually surprisingly boring

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 2 points 3 months ago

Nah, this is a prequal to sharknado

[–] Paulie@hexbear.net 14 points 3 months ago (2 children)

The movie is always shit and a flop when they pull out the “from the producers of” line

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Unless it's from the producers of The Producers; then you know you're in for a wild ride

[–] LocalOaf@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

From the wizards that brought you Slingers and Slingers 2: Sling-Dingers on Patrol

[–] Red_sun_in_the_sky@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I saw that too. Which is bizarre. Cause Jurassic world is a piece of shit.

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

It was the longest -- and worst -- Mercedes-Benz commercial to which I have ever been subjected

[–] Dimmer06@hexbear.net 9 points 3 months ago

The trailer for the original said it was made by the creators of Jurassic park. First as a tragedy then as a farce marx-joker

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That's interesting because the marketing for the original Twister was "from the producers of Jurrasic Park."

[–] WeirdGoesPro@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 months ago

That was from a time when both “Twister” and “Jurassic Park” evoked thoughts of quality movies.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I kinda want the Twisters truck, ngl.

[–] 0x0520@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Walking out of the theater like "... I think the trick would be to counter-rotate the augurs"

Same.

[–] AmericaDeserved711@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

kinda but not really, it's being called a "standalone sequel" because the plot and characters are different but they don't acknowledge the original at all

(from what I hear, I haven't seen either film)

[–] GlueBear@hexbear.net 1 points 3 months ago

Gonna start calling non cannon work and fanfics "standalone sequels" to give them more credit in my head cannons.
