I feel like it’s a word that sounds like what it means lmao, great word

I remember I was so confused with the folks on the subreddit talking about Chuds when I first started lurking in 2018. Took me a while to get some of the in jokes. I still don't know what moment birthed the Vocel Police or Amber.

[–] Bobson_Dugnutt@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yeah I thought at first that people were talking about cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I'm a late millennial, so I never even got the movie reference.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago

I only heard the word in the Simpsons lol

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 11 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The first one is boring. The second one rules

[–] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Same with The Blob and The Thing

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago

Those are remakes. I'm talking sequels. Also I like the original of both those movies quite a bit.

what moment birthed the Vocel Police

I'm guessing it was a virgin birth.

Wasn't that from the Chapo boys talking about the 3.5-hour Snyder Cut of the Justice League? Something about how a bunch of incels were worshipping fashy Superman who was not an incel, but a volcel?

Amber

My understanding on this one is that Amber's takes on the podcast have always been all over the place, and a lot of the old CTH fanbase are creepy misogynists who will not hesitate to come out of the woodwork to gripe about episodes in which she appears, while giving Will, Virgil, and Felix a free pass for their shitty or problematic takes. (Note: Matt is and always has been a perfect large adult son, and does not have bad takes.) The mods created a bot to fuck with them as a not-really-subtle way to tell people to quit being weird rather than have to call them out every other post.

I must have missed that from the Snyder Cut episode of that's where it came from, because I didn't pick up on it my first listen when I was looking through the pre 2018 episodes. I remember Felix talking about the Turkish deep state at the end though.

I kind of had a feeling that's where it came from but, at the beginning I just loved how everyone just kept saying Amber in the comments. Repetition makes me weird like that.

He won't watch it if it doesn't have Vin Diesel in it. He's very picky that way.

Basically like a white guy, between ages 20 to 45 who has reactionary/conservative views.

I told him I described the guy I work with as a Chud. The guy's obsessed with true crime stories. I know we joke here in left wing circles about white guys who will break out the FBI crime statistics a few minutes into any conversation but, this guy plausibly could do that from what I've gathered from listening to him. It's like his hyperfixation is crime stories the same way mine is history. But besides that, from talking to him I gather he has a rather cynical, individualistic, and frankly immature view of humanity. The usual "muh human nature" stuff you get from conservatives.

[–] I_CAST_BEAM_OF_BATS_I_CAST_BOLT_OF_BATS@hexbear.net 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

can I be his friend I'm sorry for being bawdy

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

He's got good instincts for what we talk about but, he's still quite persnickety about who he talks to. He's quite charitable and empathetic to others but, on the other hand he kind of has a chip on his shoulder. The usual Frank Grimes syndrome some workers get about the system they have to deal with. I think it's partially an immigrant thing, could be a number of things though. Though he's class conscious enough to hate all the managers above him. He knows what they do with the payroll they don't give out to hires while he does the work of two people. They get part of it back as bonuses at the end of the year. He's had a long life of hard work all by his lonesome.

was an easy guess this guy is cool. nice dad

[–] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 5 points 11 months ago

My friend went from calling people he didn’t like “chode“ to calling them “chud” because that was the new word he got from his social circles. It annoys me because he uses it for anyone
