They are just letting him say stuff, huh

CIA too washed these days to get past the Swiss Guard

Plus Catholic Joe Biden knows he's gonna die soon so he figues he has a better shot of getting into heaven if he doesn't try to influence the Pope.

He also came out and said both presidential candidates fucking suck.

The catholic pendulum on hexbear once more swings towards "Pope's okay". Can't wait to see what news comes when it swings the other direction

no he's only okay for a pope, a bar which is in hell

[–] buckykat@hexbear.net 50 points 1 month ago

Never forget that the pope is head of a worldwide child abuse ring with national sovereignty.

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 35 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I am in my mid thirties and every pope within my lifetime has been the woke Pope and it has never been true, I'm not falling for this shit and neither should anybody else

[–] polskilumalo@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Jan Paweł II... woke...

The best antichrist of my lifetime

[–] CommCat@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

Francis is like Socdem, but he doesn't have much longer to live, let's see who the next pope is. Colossal religious institutions like the Catholic Church, with its immense wealth and a strong conservative wing, should not be allowed a foothold in any Socialist country.

Miiiiight be important to note that the pope doesn't like Kamala because he thinks abortion is murder

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

No it's the Palestinian genocide bit

[–] jaywalker@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, that's not what the pope is saying when people ask him about it

Asked by CBS News what he would advise a Catholic voter forced to choose between a candidate who backs abortion rights and one who has said he would have 11 million migrants deported, the pope said: "They are both against life — the one who throws away migrants and the one who kills children."

Francis also reiterated the Catholic Church's position that abortion is murder.

"Whether you like the word or not, it is a killing," he said. "It is an assassination, and on this we should be clear."

Hexbear Catholic caucus is eating good as always.

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 37 points 1 month ago

I love it, because I know some incredibly awful catholic weirdos and it gives me joy he pisses them off.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Why is he speaking on what looks like a bus or airplane?

[–] neroiscariot@hexbear.net 69 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Is the Pope as in-flight entertainment not good enough for you? You sound like a Cathar.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The airline version of The Pope is weird cause they dub ovwr the swears

the edited-out sex scenes raise more questions than answers tbh

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Pope: What is the DEEal with airplane food? God made manah fall from the Heavens and we can't even bring up a decent steak, am I right? Lent is over fellas, don't make me break out the communion wafers

Church budget is down these days, gotta save a few bucks

[–] Tomboymoder@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

It’s like when the president does a press briefing on Air Force One

"China is a country"
:pope: solidarity :degaulle:

[–] edge@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"TradCaths" are probably raging.

Hilarious how they either don't believe in or sometimes don't even know one of Catholicism's main tenants, Papal supremacy.

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Technically that only applies to statements made ex cathedra, the pope can say whatever he wants on and Catholics can disagree with him, so long as he's not sitting on his special chair.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 51 points 1 month ago (3 children)

tbf I'll believe anything anyone says if they're sitting on this bad boy

How does he get on?

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What I wanna know is why Games Workshop hasn't sued the Catholic Church for so blatantly ripping off Warhammer 40k.

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

This one also does kill at least 1000 minds every day, though the husks continue to move around.

[–] Drewfro66@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Has to levitate back on. Explains why popes are at least fair at getting a room's vibes.

On one hand that sounds like hilarious cope, on the other hand it sounds exactly like the kind of arcane rules the Catholic Church would have.

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago (3 children)

ex cathedra literally means "out [from] the chair" but it's a figurative statement that just means "speaking as the holder of this position rather than as a private individual"

This phrase in Latin is still commonly used in Poland in exactly this meaning.

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

"official acts" by a president vs personal acts

[–] egg1918@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wait so a cathedral is just a church with a big chair for like official church statements?

[–] GarbageShoot@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Cathedrals are named for having such chairs, yes.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

He's only God's handpicked representative on Earth when he's on his special chair, otherwise he's just a sparkling priest

[–] Yor@hexbear.net 39 points 1 month ago (1 children)
