How did two hurricanes hitting Florida leave the Villages untouched?

god is dead and hell is empty, the demons are all here on earth

It's in the interior. One of the things people who don't live in Florida seem to understand is that there are plenty of places that are 50 miles inland. The whole place doesn't just look like Miami. If you want an equivalent of The Villages for the ocean to destroy, might I suggest Venice or Naples.

Asheville is a lot further inland than anywhere in Florida and it got wrecked. Ain't no justice.

[–] LigOleTiberal@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago

I mean, some part of florida gets wrecked every single year.

I refuse to believe anyone actually likes this. Nobody could possibly fall for this abomination just because the houses technically meet the bare minimum for being a waterfront property, right?

R-right?

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 11 points 10 months ago

grillman, both chronological boomers and honorary/junior boomers such as "kick down the ladder, I got mine" Gen-X assholes really, really like the idea of "house by ocean = paradise" no matter how much environmental devastation or colonial subjugation that may require.

Do you like mosquitos?

While I do not wish death and destruction upon the working class of Florida, I do genuinely hope that Cape Coral becomes uninhabitable due to climate change.

I used to think Phoenix, AZ was the only distinctly built-on-hubris city in the US.

Ironic fact about the Villages is that they have a low carbon footprint because they're built very densely and the residents drive electric golf carts.

[–] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 33 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The architecture is so depressing though. Just a sea of terracotta-rooved strip malls.

[–] LigOleTiberal@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

ECO-strip malls!

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 38 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I am reeeeeaaly surprised those are Kamala signs

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago

Florida is like a 49/51 state by population.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

I doubt they're a majority for the neighborhood.

Xi would not hurt civillians like that. Only one country has used nukes on civillians.
He probably would not want to be on the same list as them on it.

[–] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 14 points 10 months ago

If that same old country uses nukes again (or its proxy/51st state Isntreal does), it'll be fair game though. MAD only works if the rest of humanity is willing to commit (and if it comes to it I hope they commit in full)

A giant retirement community centered around multiple golf courses

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

It's 5 golf clubs, 10 retirement homes and a gas station mall with a Congressional district

I believe it's where all the upper middle class white people retire to stay away from the scary browns.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 5 points 10 months ago

A petri dish of STDs just for affluent white old people.

There's no way this is recent. There is no god if this place, of all places, was left completely untouched by Milton.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 19 points 10 months ago (2 children)
[–] LeZero@hexbear.net 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I thought about them while Milton was happening, guess they were too far inland to suffer any consequences...

[–] LigOleTiberal@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago

all milton did was temporarily increase the STD rate for the month. hurricane party!!!

[–] LigOleTiberal@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago
