What's it called when people use the threat of violence and intimidation to push a political agenda?

Why is everyone afraid to call a terrorist a terrorist?

[–] sirboozebum@lemmy.world 97 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Because he is a white conservative.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 48 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Hey, man, that guy is not nearly brown enough to be a terrorist. We call the white ones “lone wolves”.

/s, but like also, sadly not really /s

[–] DocMcStuffin@lemmy.world 49 points 5 days ago

He's just a troubled young man /s

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

…who just happened to be standing with seven of his lone wolf friends.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 32 points 5 days ago

"We're all domestic terrorists now."

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago

He was ordered not to go within 1,000 feet of a polling place unless he is there to vote

Fuck that. Make him vote by mail.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 50 points 5 days ago

Williams was accompanied by seven other male teens, ages 16 and 17, who police said went to the Beaches Branch Library "to protest and antagonize the opposing political side."

Oh great, this was a whole group and they let the others go

We’re going to see much more of this in the coming days. At least one shooting at a poll place will undoubtedly happen, and more than likely an actual shootout old-west style where multiple people show up armed and it escalates.

I’m not just guessing – this is based on what people have actually said. Some idiots have proudly proclaimed they’ll go to the polls armed and sound to be spoiling for a confrontation.

I hope nobody is actually killed, but I won’t be surprised. This election is already hotter than I’ve ever seen, with bomb threats, election offices being shot at, drop boxes set on fire, etc, and it’ll only get worse. The fascists are itching for bloodshed.

"The second revolution will be bloodless as long as liberals let it be." - Heritage Project Asshole

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Remind him who won that last time

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

This lib will be armed and voting LIVE.

[–] krelvar@lemmy.world 28 points 5 days ago

Florida. Only reason he's still alive is his skin color.

[–] DigitalNirvana@lemm.ee 25 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He looks so sad. Yet, was happy and smiling when brandishing that machete. I’m sure he’ll something to smile about in jail.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, all the neonazis in prison will consider him a hero

[–] vanontom@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

They might "protect" him, but nothing is free...

YouTube wannabe

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 21 points 5 days ago

Another guy going to jail for Trump. He's hopefully about to learn the Tate/Peterson/Trump bro immunity doesn't apply to him.

"We are absolutely appalled that nothing other than Harris's divisive rhetoric has caused people to commit violence."

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 3 points 5 days ago

I didn't expect them to go high.

The ad before it really softens the blow

This seems about right considering one of the US political parties is telling everyone daily, on every medium, that the US is under threat. Rhetoric to some, reality to others.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

The Government of Putin is filled with outstanding citizens...

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Seems like someone spent a little too much time studying the blade.

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is this the kid from Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields. He sure has aged well.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Rumor is Brooke Shields once farted on the set of Blue Lagoon.

Please get the reference...

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yep.. South Park. Totally get that reference

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 0 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Dunno..machetes are so commonplace in the tropical world that their roughly as common as having a pair of pliars or other common tool in your pocket when you go to the bank or vote

Duval County Democratic Party Chair Daniel Henry said in a statement the young men had been wielding flags bearing former President Donald Trump's name during the incident

Oh, nvm. That facist flag he had is a much more dangerous weapon than a small machete.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world -2 points 5 days ago (4 children)

And why did no one man the fuck up and beat the snot out of him and his friends? This isn't a pearl-clutching, "call the violent authorities" issue. This is a "beat the fuck out of them on sight" issue.

[–] sus@programming.dev 17 points 5 days ago

Trying to beat up someone holding a machete may not be the brightest idea

[–] Texas_Hangover@lemy.lol 5 points 5 days ago

We got a real badass over here!

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi.

This and anyone trying to subvert the election process, especially by intimidating voters, have no life value, and should not exist. Arresting them should be the best thing that happens to these terrorists.

[–] LodeMike 5 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Because it's illegal I assume?

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Brandishing a weapon to intimidate could maybe be argued as a threat, and perhaps a self defense of, "I felt threatened", may carry weight, especially when the weapon is illegal brandished. Probably not, but the dude should have had his ass kicked before getting arrested, imo.

[–] LodeMike 1 points 5 days ago

Oh right he had a weapon.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

It's two older ladies. So they ain't doing that.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Stand your ground law says it isn't.

[–] LodeMike 1 points 5 days ago

Oh right, that as well.
