It would be nice if we had India, Madagascar, Fiji and Djibouti instances on here!

Imagine having all their unique cultures on the Lemmyverse!

United States of America. Consolidate all their spam so it's easier to block.

I'll just make accounts on the french and german instances and spam from there. You can not escape.

But they need the whole world to know how much they hate Trump!

I was always surprised there was no US instance.

Ireland for sure. r/Ireland was one of the best, funniest, friendliest subs on reddit, I'd love to see them here.

Mexico. I like the place and the people despite not knowing a lot of Spanish. It would be repugnant if it was an English instance, but I'd appreciate it.

I wouldn't mind the some more regional US instances, like midwest.social,.but for socal or norcal or the west coast in general, northeast, south, etc.

Lemmy.today is in Oregon.

Honestly, though, as long as your home instance is in the same half of the US, or for Europe, anywhere in Europe, I doubt that latency is gonna be very noticable.

I think it would just be cool to have regional specific communities and a shared culture. For example, one thing about Reddit was that there was subreddits for some local neighborhoods and such. I was able to help a couple move in return for a bunch stuff for my new apartment through that, and get advice on where I was moving to, etc. Just cool local things like that would be nice to have on here, but it would probably require a bigger population.

I mean, no disagreement, but having a community like that doesn't require setting up an instance local to the place. Like, there's an !bayarea@lemmy.world community, though the lemmy.world instance isn't located in the San Francisco Bay.

Czech Republic. Heck, we would even team up with Slovakia (on a per-sentence basis, Czech & Slovak are >99% mutually understandable) to reach some sustainable mass.

We don't need CSAM on Lemmy, thank you.
