Ford? Tesla? Volkswagen? Alfa Romeo? Toyota?

I'm detecting a pattern with automobiles and fascism...

Toyota? For real? That would make me sad cause my Prius has been a super reliable vehicle.

Mitsubishi made planes for imperial Japan

Given Ford's history, the hitler-detector is probably intentional

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 18 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Wouldn't surprise me. I was googling it at a red light because I thought it was some new neo-nazi emblem I hadn't seen before. I was right. data-laughing

You can probably find an SS version on eBay or etsy

It’s even funnier if you read it like someone’s search history from the bottom up

[–] Sulvor@hexbear.net 2 points 4 hours ago

Uhh what the fuck Google? I mean I know Google sucks but I thought they at least censored these kinds of searches

It really is surprising that Chevrolet beat Ford to the punch on the SuperSport trim line name

amerikkka

According to a press release from March 11, 1953:

"Over a field of ribbed plastic, a gear has been mounted symbolizing power. Running diagonally across the gear from right to left is a bolt of lightning symbolizing speed."

I did NOT know how deep it all went

I knew about the honorific they gifted him, and of the antisemitism, I did not know it went that far

Jesus

also, this is some PEAK liberal writing

While Ford was extremely anti-Semitic, at the same time he was very anti-war (and of course blamed Jews for World War I, not surprising given his propensity for blaming Jews for many things). So Ford didn’t like Nazi militarism.

Not enough to turn down this award, but still, he wasn’t close on a political level with the Nazis, and is quoted as saying in the New York Times at the time of the award: “My acceptance of a medal from the German people does not, as some people seem to think, involve any sympathy on my part with Nazism. Those who have known me for many years realize that anything that breeds hate is repulsive to me”.

Yeah, I accepted a medal presented to me by the Nazi party, that was created by the Nazi party, which is the literal highest honor they can give me, but that doesn't mean I AM a Nazi

Ford going back to their roots?

CW: antisemitismI'm sure most here know but Henry Ford was deeply and proudly antisemitic. He bought a newspaper seemingly with the goal of distributing his hateful ideology and that's where he published The International Jew. He also used his dealerships to distribute the newspaper.

[–] Thordros@hexbear.net 5 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

::: spoiler also antisemitism You forgot the tagline for The International Jew:

The World's Foremost Problem

I can't help but think of this scene in king of the hill when I think of fun acronyms for Ford. https://youtu.be/3AJCdmW33fM

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

my dad always said it was first on race day, but then his dad would say fix or repair daily

[–] Burningmeatstick@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 6 hours ago

There are so many acronyms you could make with Ford, other car companies aren't as catchy with the naming.

I checked it out early on. It's pretty cool. Front trunk with 120v outlets. 220v out the back can power your house. But price went up from $45k to $65k.

And friend had the Mustang Mach 5 and he said it was a POS.
