Bluesky joke

The new narrative is "spoiled wealthy scion brutally guns down humble bootstrapping salt of the Earth CEO, father of two."

[–] AcidSmiley@hexbear.net 40 points 2 weeks ago

Funny how the most expensive healthcare in the world doesn't prevent even an Ivy League educated kid who made choices seen as ideal in today's Amerika from ending up with an invisble disability because giving better treatment would've been "unnecessary care". And by funny i mean funny in the sense of jokerfied

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

Pretty sure he was estranged from his family for years which makes it all the funnier.

[–] WafflesTasteGood@hexbear.net 73 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

So what im getting out of this is it's fine to adventure-time a CEO as long as you're a blue collar working class fella and not some spoiled ivy league brat.

[–] BashfulBob@hexbear.net 72 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

See, I'm reading this as "Class Traitors are the greatest threat to their respective cohorts".

[–] TheLepidopterists@hexbear.net 61 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nikita Khrushchev: “I am the son of coal miners. You are the descendant of feudal mandarins. We have nothing in common.”

Zhou Enlai: “Perhaps we do. We are both traitors to our class.”

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago

I am so using that the next time a bootlicker tries to paint me as privileged.

“Well we both have one thing in common: we’re both class traitors!”

[–] viva_la_juche@hexbear.net 46 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It’s the same play they always pull, if you criticize things and you’re wealthy youre privileged and don’t know how good you have it, if you criticize and you’re poor you’re just jealous and made bad choices

[–] TrashGoblin@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago

Parenti quote.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago

No, then they'll just insult you more plainly and do things like bring up any prior convictions/tickets/high school incidents to 'contextualize' your actions

[–] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 50 points 2 weeks ago

Insert the quote about Zhou Enlai calling himself and Khrushchev both class traitors but from opposite ends here but with Luigi and the CEO.

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 44 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Luigi Mangione had so much to offer

The world needs one more wealthy reactionary AI guy. We do not have enough people telling me that ChatGPT is becoming sentient in ~~2022 2023 2024~~ 2025 because they can afford a lot of OpenAI stock.

[–] jackmarxist@hexbear.net 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He did have a lot more to offer. He could've killed more CEOs.

[–] AmericaDelendaEst@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

He still can, too

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 42 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

a son of small-town Iowa who ascended

Totally not a religious cult, this capitalism thing.

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)
[–] nohaybanda@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago

More of a descent, honestly. Or vertical readjustment if you wanna be fancy with it.

[–] OnlineBrainworms@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Everyone can ascend if you just work hard enough. Everyone can be a millionaire CEO. Capitalism totally doesn't rely on a mass of low paid workers to actually produce things and do work. We can all be CEOs!

[–] Hohsia@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

Just need to start a company thanks to your daddy’s money! Simple!

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 36 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I am mutually exhausted by the "he is a vaunted elite from a special school" and the "he was a plucky corn husking dirt grubber" narratives that get trotted out whenever some new character is introduced to our reality. Neither of which apply to the vast majority of the rest of us. Both are seen as the opposite of the other. Neither represent the third category most of us come from.

Not really commenting on this article here just commenting on the phenomenon that spawned it.

That ivy league dipshit has quite possibly killed fewer people than any other ivy league dipshit

[–] TrashGoblin@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago

Certainly fewer than average.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago

Consent manufacturing machine go brrrr

[–] StillNoLeftLeft@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

It is pretty sickening how this reporting has all the code words like "lost his way" and "had so much to offer" in it that are always only used when it is a white dude. It's the same diffefence as with white suburban opiate users compared to anyone marginalized.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

I think WaPo needs their perspective adjusted

[–] OnlineBrainworms@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

The bezos post dumping for billionaires. How unoriginal.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Luigi Mangione had so much to offer

this, but not in the way that they mean

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So how involved do we think Bezos has been with this affair after the 'revelation' he was involved with their not endorsing a candidate lol?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago

I've assumed since Bezos bought the Post that the editors try to guess what wants because if they piss him off - he will just fire their ass. I think once Trump is president - the obsequiousness will be even more blatant. Yet after Trump's inauguration somebody in the media like Chris Hayes will have a notable comment. Hayes - or whoever - will say something like "What in heaven's name is going on at the Washington Post? The storied paper's motto is 'Democracy dies in darkness' yet...." as if Bezo's super-billionaire wealth wasn't a problem from the first day he bought it.

Ninja edit

I just realized it might not be anybody at MNSBC at all. They might get sold and their name, POV, etc could be changed. The media under Trump 2.0 will be a trip.

“I’m not porky, YOU’RE PORKY!”

Every CHUD tries to “no u” at least once.
