if we're evangelicals, then Liberals are what, Catholics? The only way to ensure that you are one of the predestined to receive salvation is to behave as though you are already predestined, so you must follow certain norms and rituals that don't actually affect anything, but are used as ex-post-facto justification based on correlated results
