Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Summary:

President Donald Trump has sparked outrage after agreeing with a suggestion that January 6 rioters who received pardons could be financially compensated, leaving many social media users appalled. In an interview with Newsmax Tuesday night, Trump responded to a question about whether a "compensation fund" for the pardoned rioters was being considered, confirming, "There's talk about that."

Trump defended the individuals involved in the insurrection, referring to them as "patriots" and insisting they had been treated unfairly.

Sounds like he wants to buy them brown uniforms to go with their new wages.

I’d be ashamed to even call myself an american at this point.

What a fall america is taking. It’s the joke of the planet.

Honestly I would expect Trump to be more patriotic and go with Silver Shirts

This barrel has no bottom.

They're digging down under the barrel straight into raw sewage.

It's certainly up there with Russia and North Korea at the moment.

"Paid for Committing Treason" pretty much sums up Trump's presidency.

Hey, at least this time he's actually paying the people that do work for him.

[–] derryt@lemm.ee 5 points 4 days ago

Users?? Has the US started to talk about its populace like they are on a twitch stream?

[–] KinglyWeevil@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 4 days ago

Are we cooked, Chat?

[–] Yondoza@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 days ago

What the fuck is this headline? The main subject of the reporting is the online reaction to the actual news story. Why can't they just report the event and not people's reaction to it?

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What would you prefer, social media victims?

[–] HorreC@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

Could just call them people, but I guess Users would be ok as some of those will have been bots.

[–] Crazyslinkz@lemmy.world 23 points 5 days ago

Ok, let's go storm the capital. We just have to spend a little time in jail and the next pres will let us out and pay us. No harm no foul.

Why would he compensate "ANTIFA"?

[–] dephyre@lemmy.world 19 points 5 days ago

So… crime does pay?

Hey you've got to pay your army.

[–] venotic@kbin.melroy.org 16 points 5 days ago

I wouldn't be surprised if those $5,000 DOGE stimulus payments I've been reading about lately, went to these idiots. I vaguely recall the number of people who 'qualify' for it being north of 70+ million. Huh, weren't those the same 70+ million that voted for trump? go figure.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago

He's officially hiring his useful idiots to be his goons.

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Presumably, with all the money saved on transgenic mice

[–] NotLemming@lemm.ee 9 points 5 days ago

I can't even be outraged properly because it's too funny.

Remember, too, they cut funding for 911 survivors, again.

[–] DarthKaren@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

All the years he's never paid his bills. Damn...what a fucking time to start...

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

He isn't going to pay them shit. He wants to make us pay them.

[–] DarthKaren@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Guarantee you that isn't the way he sees.

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 7 points 5 days ago

Appalled yes, surprised no

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 7 points 5 days ago

Gotta give it to him: he knows how to flood the zone with distracting outrage.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

What's he going to give them? Brown coats and ~~black SUVs~~ rusted out '90s pickup trucks? Fucking Nazi.

They keep pulling the hair of the US population while taking them from behind .... and all the people will do is try to ignore it all

This isn't a problem with the government ... the people are standing aside and either ignoring it, defending it or want to believe it has nothing to do with them.
