I am all half a Jeremy on this blessed day
Jeremy spoke in class today.
God bless you, KenM
That's guy's still in great shape even during rebuilding. I wish I could be half so fit on this blessed day !
Oh absolutely. My comment was an old joke concerning a social media account named Ken M.
I'm like, at most 1/10 a Jeremy.
Trust Disney to kick him while he's down
They can get a masked CGI to do it for less. CGI A.I. body doubles is gonna make them rich.
Eventually, but I think we’re still in uncanny valley territory wrt complex movements (what action shows need)
Be curious to see how that would go down... unless he signed away his likeness.
I never knew about this. What a weird, fucked up thing to do.
I was never a fan of his, but when I saw this I decided he's just not a good person. What a gross thing to do to people who support you. I hope to not have to see him in anything going forward.
It's basically an onlyfans/patreon that he didn't have to give someone else a cut of...
If people want to give you money, let them...
Google and apple certainly take a cut. Bigger than patreon and onlyfans btw.
what kind of logic is that? the guy's rich and successful, he doesn't need to take money from people who suck at managing their impulses.
That screams narcissism for sure
Idk man.
I went to the Wiki article, and it's formatted in a way that basically implies he did the app himself.
Renner explained the shutdown in a goodbye post. “Due to clever individuals that were able to manipulate ways to impersonate me and others within the app, I have asked ESCAPEX, the company that runs this app, to shut it down immediately and refund anyone who has purchased any stars over the last 90 days,” he wrote. Stars are the app’s version of currency. “What was supposed to be a place for fans to connect with each other has turned into a place that is everything I detest and can’t or won’t condone.”
So it's some company called ESCAPEX. I could put money, but not a lot of it, on them having sold Renner the concept instead of the other way around. Artists always have tons of passive income from things like that, and it seems like it ran pretty smoothly for a few years, until the trolls, and when he found out, he shut it down.
Idk maybe it was his idea and he only shut it down when it became completely uncontrollable idk.
But I don't know, and definitely haven't seen enough evidence to say he's a bad person.
Edit yeah
One of the main controversies of Renner's app was its marketing. The app's developers, Escapex, specialized in and grew famous for making similar monetized apps for celebrities.[13][8] The marketing campaign was based on direct contact with Renner, whose chances were increased with regular payments for "stars",[17] although very few encounters seemed to happen with Renner himself.[18] The multiple problems with the app led the CEO of Escapex, Sephi Shapira, to call the app a "freak situation", and added "Am I concerned about this? Not more than I'm concerned about 50 other things I'm dealing with as a startup company."[17] Along with the marketing failures, the app was seen as misrepresenting itself as seemingly erotic with some advertisements featuring Renner suggestively staring at the camera, despite the actual app being initially considered safe for children.[14]
I think is more a case of Renner being taken advantage of by some asshole company than him straight up being an asshole
Depends on how much his character was supposed appear.
If it was just cameos, with Kate Bishop/Hailee Steinfeld getting most of the screentime, then of course.
How can it be Hawkeye without … you know … Hawkeye?
Alan Alda's still alive.
Now that would be really terrific. Wow what a swell casting there. Just top notch.
Good for him, and he’s just asking for his original salary. Pay this man!👏👏👏 Isn’t Hawkeye supposed to be one of the better Marvel Disney+ shows anyway? Watch them come crawling back
I didn't watch it but my understanding is that Hawkeye passed on the torch and he probably was going to be more in the background instead of the star. I don't know the exact parameters but I imagine it would not be as much screen time or physically demanding scenes. Fuck Disney for being a shitty company but I'm not sure if this is 100% attributable to that.
It was campy. Not great, but not terrible. Formulaic but overall okay.
I feel like The Marvels (I think?) ties the ending of Hawkeye with the rest of the MCU.
The best thing about Hawkeye was the Florence Pough (sp?) character. Just pure comedy.
Season 1 is all about the character being completely worn out so now he fits the role even more
I saw season one as kind of passing the torch anyway. If he didn’t appear in season two, the show would be just fine without him.
I’m a Hawkeye fan, not a Renner fan.
Semi-off-topic, but a reminder that Disney (and Disney+ in particular) is on the Boycott, Divest, Sanction list.
Maybe they're speculating only half the people will watch it, based on previous trends. I sure didn't watch the first one.
Oh no... rich person gets offered to be paid millions instead of being paid millions...
I never understand this mindset. It reminds me of people who complain about NFL players all while the owners rake in billions. Like why y'all mad at the labor? Be mad at the owner.
Think worker vs shareholder, not just rich vs poor. Never take a job for less, always negotiate, or you're only leaving more money for the owners
Also, plenty of these people will take lower paying jobs, just not from Disney and not from a multi billion dollar franchise.
