To a question about Trump's remarks about Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state, the newly elected Carney replied, "There are some places that are never for sale ... having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign, it's not for sale. It won't be for sale ever."

Trump quipped on a couple of occasions that it was "all about time," and to "never say never" to the idea of Canada's annexation by the U.S.

Trump can't take no for an answer. That's what made him a convicted rapist to begin with.

I wish they both wouldn't use terms like "for sale" and "ownership" when referring to a sovereign state.

I agree, but in context he was just extending a metaphor that treated the voters/citizens as "owners," presumably because he thought Trump would understand the language better.

"As you know from real estate, there are some places that are never for sale. We're sitting in one right now," Carney told Trump. "Having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign last several months, it's not for sale. Won't be for sale, ever," he said.

When war breaks out between the FSA (fascist states of America) vs Canada , will the Americans who participate in citizen-sabotage adopt the French-(Canadian) term “la resistance”?

[–] kescusay@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Certains d'entre nous parlent un peu de français, alors pourquoi pas?

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 3 points 1 day ago

Ouais, ça serait une bonne occasion de pratiquer mon français - c'est trop rouillé !

I've been using DPRA, making it like all the other fascist governments that extend propaganda to the name of their nation.

You know that Carney spoke smartly when the news reports his words over Trump's, despite the fact Trump was blabbering for 90% of the time over his usual nonsense.

Tim Walz got it. It's a shame they kneecapped his normal-people messaging.
