I met Nancy Cartwright once at the Hollywood bowl, she was very kind even though I was an annoying 21 year old who didnt believe she was the voice of Bart simpson. She did end up doing the voice for me so she was gracious too. Its a shame I was such a twat.

"Say the line, Nancy!"

sigh... eat my shorts

"Yaaaaaaaay!"

"woozle wuzzle"

[–] Fuzzypyro@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

She loves doing it lol. At least she seemed to when I met her on the west side of the valley in LA. I genuinely had no idea it was her until she hit me with a “don’t have a cow man” lol

Wonder if Cartwright is still a scientologist. Apparently she's given those psycho cult grifters millions and millions over the years.

[–] raltoid@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

As of 2023 she still was, and had given $21m.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago

Aye caramba!

[–] M137@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (5 children)

I have no idea who Sabrina Carpenter is.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

you fool! i already told you she's Bart Simpson's niece. jeez, the state of the education system these days..

[–] LiterallyLMAO@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

I think she directed They Live and Halloween

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

She is a lovely lady who is a mediocre singer and wears a shit ton of makeup. She once posted a picture of herself without makeup and men accused her of catfishing. Bloody idiots.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 5 points 5 days ago

She's Katy Perry's replacement.

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

I think she was on Buffy

[–] recursive_recursion@lemmy.ca 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Sorry I added my comment to the wrong post!

That's totally my bad!

LMAO looks like somebody took a wrong turn at Ulaanbaatar :P

edit - please leave it, it's hilarious

I wonder… Does this imply talent is semi genetic or that people get opportunities based off of who they know/family? Or even just some crazy coincidence in this crazy world?

[–] JimVanDeventer@lemmy.world 27 points 5 days ago

Rich people have opportunistic connections, yes.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 23 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Her dad is stepbrother to Cartwright. No shared genetics.

[–] Sludgeyy@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Her father built a recording studio for her to fuel her passion for music.

Considering she is not that great of a singer, I’d wager on nepotism. The production on her songs is absolutely ridiculous though. I had goosebumps listening to please please please, just thinking about what went into the production of that one song.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

in this case? you'd have to convince me that it isn't just a funny coincidence.

in many other cases in acting? yeah, it's definitely a nepotism thing. hollywood is the one place (until lately) where americans could admire dynasties without any particular guilt

edit - i made a mistake in this post, but the replies are too good to delete it.

[–] pwnicholson@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Let me introduce you to the world of professional sports. Especially hockey, but others too.

Not at the scale of Hollywood, for sure. But it's been going on a very long time. There are 4th generation NHLers at this point.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world -3 points 5 days ago

hey, man, i know tie and i'll tell him your ip address if you keep this up

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Meh, not a recent change.

Go read about the early "talkie" era. Same shit today as yesterday - Hollywood has always been a cesspool

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

sorry - it was a bad post. i was trying to make some point about dynasties being disliked in other places, but i didn't remember the kennedies, the vanderbilts, etc. i'm a bit high tonight.

[–] Jimmycakes@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

She's looks so weird to me. Like uncomfortable in her skin like an alien trapped in a human body

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

i see it in a lot of images, too. but she's totally different in video. she's no comedian, but she's definitely got a light heart and a great sense of humour

edit - she did a Hot Ones interview:
