We buried a cat we thought was ours. He was hit by a car. Anyhow later that evening Sammy came home wanting to be fed.

That must have been the best feeling ever when he came back, loosing a pet is hard but if it comes back it's probably the complete opposite. You got lucky that day.

Sometimes, dead is better

Isn't that the plot to Pet Sematary? Was your cat looking to feed on you?

Ok, for real I'm glad you didn't really lose Sammy. It's just not often I get to make a Pet Sematary joke.

Pet Sematary moment

I was on the other side of this. Our cat was hit by a car, some woman was crying over him thinking it was her cat. Our cat never came home so hopefully that woman's cat did.

[–] sharkwellington@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

That was just one of your cat's extra lives.

[–] Hubi@feddit.de 12 points 2 years ago

Uh-oh, that story sounds familiar...

Here's my headcannon:

His original cat and its best buddy had been planning this for months.

Like a heist movie where the treasure is treats and getting to live together.

Nah, this was a Freaky Friday thing.

Our big cat disappeared once after we moved, and we roamed the neighborhood for hours searching for him. I finally spotted him in someone's side yard, just chilling on their trash bins, his collar missing. My partner was getting tired and had already headed home, only to call me just before I trespassed onto their property to inform me that the cat was waiting for us just inside the door.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

imagine if you would have tried to grab that cat?!

The one to the left has a white ares that gore across its chest where ad the cat to the right has a batch that is isolated.

Makes it kind of hard to miss that it's not the same cat. To me it looks like a picture of someone's cats that a random user is trying to make internet points out of

Nah, it says right there, it's 8 hrs old.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago

At least they are two super cute cats!

[–] venoft@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

My sister had this, they thought the cat was behaving a bit weird, but thought it was from being lost for a week. But it turned out it was their cats brother who lived in the same village.

Cat and Cat(1).

[–] Dave@lemmy.nz 15 points 2 years ago (2 children)

How much like it, was it the same cat?

[–] StealThisComment@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Not like this.

[–] fossphi@lemm.ee 11 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I have never had cats, is this a realistic/common thing? I'm curious

[–] Tolstoy@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago

Nope, not really...

[–] sizzler@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

If you look into cat colouring / patterns you'll soon realise that there are less unique cat colours than you think.

[–] Neil@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

I own 3 cats and feel like I could tell which one was mine between two identical cats. There's a special feeling when you see your cat. I can tell my cats on my security cameras from other neighborhood cats that look similar.

When my aunt is on a holiday I feed her cats. One of them is a tortie. Unlike their reputation it's one of the sweetest cats I know, probably because she associates me with food.

One time when I went to feed them, I thought I saw her outside. It was weird since I had just seen her go upstairs. I went outside and saw it wasn't her. She had other face markings.

[–] Bougie_Birdie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Do torties have a bad reputation? Mine is a stupid little cinnamon roll and I'm having a hard time picturing anything else.

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I'm a big fan of cinnamon rolls!

[–] Shieldtoad@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago

Some say torties have a special attitude (tortitude) and that they bite, scratch and hiss more easily. My aunt says the tortie is more temperamental than her other cats. I haven't experienced this since she is always sweet to me.

[–] Jackcooper@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He might've stolen someone else's cat

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

I think he did

My cat has a very distinctive cry. Also she's a yandere and will murder any other cat who gets between her and ~~me~~ her food supply.
