No, misleadingly overspecific, but don't worry, I fixed it:

"Alpha" meaning early stage of development

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 9 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I always wonder if they know that “alphas” is not even a thing in wolves, let alone humans.

[–] GrammatonCleric@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

I think it was in regards to wolves in captivity.

[–] Lianodel@ttrpg.network 42 points 6 months ago

I was just listening to the OAN coverage of this (through another channel commenting on it). You know what genuinely shocked me?

She's not even playing the halftime show! They made up this batshit insane conspiracy theory because she's going to be attending the Superbowl!

It was some of the most deranged, grotesque propaganda I've ever seen. The idea that people take this as serious reporting is genuinely disturbing.

[–] technicalogical@lemmy.world 40 points 6 months ago (2 children)

I thought these guys swore off football along with their Bud Light?

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 24 points 6 months ago

They did. They just don't have shame or a spine.

[–] crystalmerchant@lemmy.world 10 points 6 months ago (1 children)

No no that was the NBA with BLM support during covid

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Do they not know that a majority of NBA players are black? That was rhetorical; if they didn't know Rage Against the Machine was political, of course they didn't know about the NBA.

The disgusting but is that, as far as I can tell, Swift is a genuinely decent person. She's stayed out of controversy and politics and bullshit.

So encouraging her fans to vote put a target on her? Fucking disgusting. The press should hound these people, make them say out loud what issue they have with her, arguably patriotic, statement.

[–] EdibleFriend@lemmy.world 33 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

She has never said who to vote for either. Just keeps saying 'vote'.

And, apparently, there is a pretty big measurable jump in registrationevery time she puts out a message about it.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 months ago

Getting people to participate in democracy is biased against Republicans, duh!

[–] Vilian@lemmy.ca 29 points 6 months ago (4 children)

can some one explain what happened?

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 96 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Fox News did a report claiming that Taylor Swift is a Pentagon psy-op, and the only reason the Chiefs are in the game at all is so she can endorse Biden.

Yes, really.

[–] Vilian@lemmy.ca 44 points 6 months ago (2 children)

lmao wtf thanks for the explanation!

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 41 points 6 months ago (1 children)

All because she told people to vote. She didn't say who to vote for, just to vote.

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 22 points 6 months ago (1 children)

it's implied, because evil people only win when good people become careless

They've straight up said that voting is the enemy of their party.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 4 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I like to think of "explanation" as a word that describes providing a logical basis for something that is not well understood.

When reality is this fucky, I think we need a new word for explanation.

[–] eupraxia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 months ago
[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 38 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Right wing idiots believe that the Super Bowl is rigged. They believe the left is is specifically rigging it for the Chiefs to give TSwift a larger platform to support Biden.

[–] Vilian@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 months ago

thanks for the explanation!

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 18 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Taylor Swift is, according to conservatives, is part of a psyops plan to endorse Joe Biden for POTUS.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 14 points 6 months ago

I cannot believe I'm seeing these words strung together and thinking, "Oh. Got it. That makes sense in 2024.)

[–] Assman@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 months ago

A psyop is when people like the candidate I don't like

[–] Vilian@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 months ago

thanks for the explanation!

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

The NFL is now part of the deep state and is rigging the super bowl so that Taylor Swift can push Joe Biden. They're extra mad, because they're god king Trump took a beating this past week.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafe 2 points 6 months ago

Tbh I'm pretty sure the NFL is rigged, this just isn't why.

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 15 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Let's pretend for a moment that I believe in the concept of alpha males.

The constant need to tell people that you are an alpha male is the most beta trait I've seen.

In a world where the theoretical alpha males exist, they don't need to tell you they are alpha, they show it by their actions.

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Wolves in captivity based on bad science be like

Wolf 1: okay who should be our leader

Wolf 2: I'm an alpha so I should be

All wolves: haha loser nah you're cringe

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 11 points 6 months ago

Not Swift endorsing anything but Trumplethinskin 😥

[–] poweruser@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Can someone who knows how to make memes make this:

Take the Kanye West/Taylor Swift VMA speech where he takes her microphone and paste Taylor Swift's face over Kanye's, then paste Travis Kelce's face over 2009 Swift. Then swap her award for a Lombardi trophy.

Have a caption of her saying "Yo Travis, I'm really happy for you, I'mma let you finish, but Joe Biden is the real winner of the Super Bowl"

[–] enix@reddthat.com 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)
[–] poweruser@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

That's exactly the message I got. Probably they are blocking any prompt with Taylor Swift in it

[–] enix@reddthat.com 5 points 6 months ago

Yes. Assholes taking away all the good wholesome fun

[–] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

Yeah a lot of famous people are mad because the AI deep fakes are getting kinda good

Vince McMahon is in the other corner plotting to bring back the XFL

[–] root_beer@midwest.social 8 points 6 months ago

“Who do I have to shit on to get this alternative football league going again”

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago

XFL merged with the USFL and is now the UFL for this upcoming season.

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Yes. I'm not sure this is a political meme, but yes.

[–] FleetingTit@feddit.de 4 points 6 months ago

Swift has a good track record of encouraging her fans to vote (in political elections). And some people on the republican/alt right side of the political spectrum disagree with that message apparently.

I think this qualifies

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 months ago

It's just the toxic male version of astrology.

[–] kemsat@lemmy.world -2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I’m just tired of her. She’s very mid to me.
