Good

As California Gov. Gavin Newsom rolled out a lawsuit Wednesday challenging Trump’s sweeping tariffs, he had little to say about the Abrego Garcia case when asked about it.

“This is the distraction of the day. The art of distraction,” Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential contender, said of Trump invoking MS-13 to justify his actions. “And here, we zig and zag. This is the debate they want. This is their 80-20 issue, as they’ve described it.”

While noting that the government needs to abide by court orders and the rule of law, Newsom added, “It’s exactly the debate they want, because they don’t want this debate on the tariffs; they don’t want to be accountable to markets today.”

Jesus Christ, Newsom, they put people in jail indefinitely with 0 due process, they aren't even charged with a crime! That's a little more urgent than the fucking tariffs!

That dude is completely focused on attacking the "real" threats: trans and unhoused people.

[–] zurohki@aussie.zone 17 points 2 days ago

Pfft, he's just some guy distracting people from what's important: rich people are making slightly less money! Sound the alarm!

Not for the billionaire class, and they own the politicians.

Remember: he does not fight the tariffs to save ordinary peoples jobs or lower prices on supermarket shelves. He does this to protect the profits of the rich.

Ah, yes. Nazis opening up concentration/death camps in a foreign country and illegally shipping people off there without any semblence of due process (not that it would be legal even with due process, as death camps are illegal under the 8th amendment, not that this government cares)? Clearly that's just meant as a distraction from what the Nazis really want to do, which are tarrifs.

He's just a slimey asshole who is avoiding the question. He wants to try and keep some conservative votes when he's forced on everyone by the DNC in a couple of years, as they backstab another candidate that would actually improve things.

It's unbelievable how stupid these people are. They learned anything from Kamala losing by chasing the far right.

If he gets the nomination in 2028 then we're beyond royally fucked.

We already are.
