The Republican party is a threat to the US. Trump is a traitor. The people who can't understand that at this point have a mental illness. Fuck the corrupt Democrats that enable them through their policies and actions.

Like what?

[–] mattw3496@kbin.social 42 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I assume that the user that you are responding to was probably referring to Manchin, Sinema, and the various old school Democrats that engage in insider trading and the like and refuse to fix such issues in our laws.

In addition to the more extreme examples like Manchin and Sinema who exist as spoiler votes, the majority of the Democratic party also enable the Republican party by constant attempts to compromise resulting in a rightward Overton window shift. Because Democratic politicians refuse to confront Republicans when the latter refuse to engage in good faith arguments, agreements, and debates.

Outside of that, they also tend not use what power they have to do good. Like how Roe v Wade was never codified, even during times when Dems had control of the house and senate.

I completely agree if that's what OC was intending. It just seemed his/her comment contradicted itself, and I wanted clarity.

[–] Cruxifux@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Also the ratfucking farce that is the primaries. Along with all the smaller individual cases of corruption that both dems and repubs do constantly.

Like how Roe v Wade was never codified, even during times when Dems had control of the house and senate.

Because that's part of the cat and mouse game. They can't fix too many things because they need campaign points on the next election to beat Republicans over the head with. If they actually codified it they wouldn't be able to use it as a "fight".

[–] Neato@ttrpg.network 32 points 8 months ago (6 children)

Did you just blame the treason for the Republican party and its supporters on the Democrats? Jesus fucking christ maybe blame the actual traitors? The Democrats could do more, sure, but that's like blaming the US for not getting WW2 earlier for all the atrocities of the nazis.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 8 months ago

I won’t blame the US for nazis, except Lindbergh and the other US nazis.

[–] MotoAsh@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

They did blame the actual traitors. Multiple people can be guilty of different levels of ill. Republicans being disgusting doesn't magically make Democrats good, just the lesser of two evils. Notice how "lesser evil" is still evil.

That's important to remember, especially if Trump doesn't win.

Because the only thing worse than a ratfuck fascist is a ratfuck liberal who pretends to be a good person while joyfully aiding the slide into fascism behind their backs

Why are you acting like the US wasn’t a bastion of eugenics and Nazi ideology and was dangerously close to joining the Axis? If Japan didn’t lose their fucking minds and drag Hitler into their war, the US was happy to stay out and keep cleansing their own borders.

What do you think happened to the properties, businesses, and bank accounts of all those nisei they put in camps?

[–] bigMouthCommie@kolektiva.social -3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

the Nazis learned a lot from manifest destiny. and got help from IBM. and coke.

america is to blame.

[–] aniki@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago

Hitler literally wrote about how he was inspired by Japanese internment.

[–] nomous@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Read a history book before you make yourself look like an idiot.

[–] ooterness@lemmy.world 21 points 8 months ago (1 children)

It's like Republicans are the ones doing a school shooting, and Democrats are the Uvalde cops twiddling their thumbs outside the school.

[–] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

Spot on, old chap

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

One part of that paragraph is not like the other.

[–] Cruxifux@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

The people who can’t understand that make up around half of the voting body of the greatest military power of all time.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

More like 1/3, but your point still stands.

[–] Cruxifux@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

That’s why I threw the word “voting” into that one. But yeah, any way you wanna word it, shit looks grim.
