Ain't no way anybody thinks this looks good. They just get cheap stuff from China that purposefully looks horrible and sell it to rich assholes at ridiculous prices.

DISCLAIMER : I fully support scamming rich people as long as the workers get the profit. These assholes just pocket it for themselves.

Kind of surprised that Jesse and Walter didn't drip out with Balenciaga and Dior after earning a ton of money.

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Walter dripped out his son with a dodge charger and Skrillex

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Fuck Balenciaga, from their Nazi ties to genuinely terrible garment quality.

I always advocate for buying better quality if you can afford it (preferably secondhand), but that doesn't mean luxury. Luxury fashion is horribly unethical, similar to fast-fashion.

Buy reps. There are multiple rep sellers that just sell the items made in the same factory as the real products.

[–] gueybana@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Any recs for rep reps resellers my rep

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

r/fashionreps, r/qualityreps

Prepare to be bombarded by 16 year olds asking about the same nike shoes for 50 posts in a row

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Lol I thought Balenciaga only came into existence in the early 2000s

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

1919, fuck em

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t understand “ironic” high fashion at all. The companies are usually owned by conglomerates and the designers and executives are very rich and/or socialites. No one is benefitting from these scams except other rich people

[–] blakeus12@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

this is the beanie guy from jujutsu kaisen. i swear i'm not crazy. i forgot his name

[–] FungiDebord@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

Some stuff in that movie didn't age well, like the trump-drenched cameo and the joke about cell phones getting smaller, but this is pretty much timeless. Surprisingly based plot about killing the prime minister of Micronesia because he wants workers' rights, too.

[–] CredibleBattery@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

anyone else remembers Balenciaga's Paedophile connection? I feel like i'm going insane

[–] LanyrdSkynrd@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

There was a Balenciaga ad that had some paper with text visible. The text was from the SCOTUS ruling that said virtual CP was not CP under the law. They sued the producer of the ad, claiming it was them that provided the prop.

Weird as hell, but I'm not sure it means anything.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There was no connection, it was some shit thrown to the wall to see it anything stick and nothing did.

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i mean it's the normal connection that every industry that employs young attractive people in a performance capacity has, which is that they are offered life changing sums of cash and gigs in exchange for sexual favors

[–] EmoThugInMyPhase@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Well yes but specifically, this particular controversy was about using some AI/fake child in an advertisement featuring sexualized clothes

Never mind. It was a real child.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

So, for everyone being aware of the pictures:

https://firstclasse.com.my/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/balenciaga-controversy-2.png

I don't think the kids are being sexualized, and how I read it, it looks more like a critique of the use of ever younger models on the fashion industry.

[–] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

oh shit lmao was that it? i'll be honest if this makes you mad you are a rightist like it would not take much to convince you that we need to end pride parades and drag queen story hour.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 3 points 1 year ago

For real, like compare it with this:

https://beautyramp.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/child_beauty_pageants_1wnfe.jpg

And tell me who is the one sexualizing little kids?

[–] Flaps@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)
