We gotta start saying her name man. It's like working with a new person who you call orange as a joke since that's what they wore on their first day but you just keep it up because you're too shy to ask their name.

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 113 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Her name is ~~Robert Paulson~~ Haliey Welch.

[–] Sundial@lemm.ee 35 points 1 day ago (32 children)

I know her name is publicly available. I'm just saying if she's going to keep popping up we should probably stop calling her "Hawk Tuah girl".

[–] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago

we gotta start saying her name

her name

That’s a win!

[–] Bertuccio@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

This one doesn't even call her "Hawk Tuah girl".

I mean, she is not trying to keep a private life, she is trying to capitalize on her 15 mins of fame. If she wants the fame, the label should be fair game.

I've been avoiding hawk tuah as an exercise in how long it was possible to avoid the meme but now i've looked up her name and it's Haliey Welch

Honestly, I'm really starting to come around to Hawk Tuah Girl's take on applying dialectics to make progressively more optimized particle swarm algorithms.

Huh, one part of me feels bad for her cause of all the attention, but she seems like she wants to capitalize on it.

It’s her choice but I feel like the jokes are a little more justified if she wants to stay in the spotlight.

[–] Moah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I mean she's called her podcast "Talk Tuah"

[–] Anyolduser@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 21 hours ago

That's goddamned hilarious.

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 6 points 22 hours ago

Oh course. A lot of extroverts conflate fame with healthy interpersonal relationships.

it's definitely at least in part intended. She has management now, for sure.

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

Classic Scientist trying to offer comfort...

"Listen, I'm sorry your marriage fell apart, but it was the most likely outcome..."

"Also, you wanna have sex?"

[–] General_Shenanigans@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I knew he wasn’t monogamous, but I didn’t know he tried to start a polycule until I read that. Interesting!

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 17 points 1 day ago

Makes up theory of relativity. Marries cousin.

[–] HexesofVexes@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

"My dear, monogamy is an entirely relative concept with no fixed frame of reference!'

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Many of the great geniuses fell to one or the other extreme of sexual activity. Might be related to neurodivergence but that’s me speculating

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Plays into the autism/ADHD as a superpower narrative instead of the "some people like sex some don't" narrative, pass.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Some people like sex, others don’t. People with autism/adhd often find ourselves in positions where we’re comfortable violating social norms, whether that’s deciding that you’d actually rather spend all your time on electrical engineering and pigeons instead of having a family, or being a bum who can’t stick with a job long enough to have consistent housing but also lacks the impulse control to not pursue all the sex they want.

[–] Tarquinn2049@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

It'd be nice to line up his quotes on the subject in chronological order, since it seems like the last one would be about how his infidelities were his biggest failings in life. People say a lot of stuff to rationalize their behaviour while they are still doing it. But with time and space, can put together that the problem wasn't that other people "chose" to feel hurt about it. They will always be hurt if it came by surprise and you didn't have consent first. Hell, even in proper polygamous relationships with as much consideration and communication as possible, it can be a challenge to not hurt anyone.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

When have quants ever used good decision making as a basis for their trading? Saying you use AI brings in investors, that's good enough for quant funds.
