The ukraine war makes me question if we live in the same reality sometimes. There's something so existentially horrifying about thousands of people pointlessly dying fighting over some village with 5000 residents in the middle of a bombed out wasteland and this just repeats month after month, but half the people around me talk abut it like it's an exciting sports game.
Its doubly fucked when you live in cities that are just like theirs,and your grandparents live in villages just like those
And then you move away from the border,and into the capital,and it's like you stepped into another reality,no alarms at night,no jets flying overhead,it's like the war is something on tv again (Not Ukrainian,but I live on the border with them)

Well if it makes you feel better this isnt what they're fighting for. Russia is systemically dismantling the Ukrainian proxy state and removing US influence from the region. Weakening NATO as a whole. The world will be better at the end of it.
