Most houses only give out little .22's for Halloween, but go to the ritzy neighborhoods and you'll get full sized DEagles and P-90s.

[–] rugburn@lemmynsfw.com 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My neighborhood would be seized up Hi-Points

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 15 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

I have a .45 Hi-Point carbine. Flawless operation, had never malfunctioned, weighs 10-pounds, impossible to clean. Along with other... odd design choices.

Hi-Points are what you get by giving a group a very smart engineers a list of things the product needs to do. A group of engineers that has never seen an actual gun.

For everyone trying to imagine what they are talking about - i had no clue

[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Mum the yanks are talking about their guns again.

Poor photographic skills. Were are the holed socks or bare feet in the picture? You need to either turn in your HiPoint or destroy that picture and take a proper photograph!

[–] Krzd@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

A minimum of crocs is required for a proper hiPoint picture

[–] bluewing@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

I would disagree a bit as a traditionalist. But, I'm fine with changing tastes.

[–] kamenlady@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

White is much better. Nice!

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have a Hi-Point .45 pistol and that pretty accurately describes it (the weight is fine but the balance is weird and makes it feel terrible).

I use it as a close range backup when I'm hog hunting. I've only had to use it once and it worked just fine. It literally saved me from being at least maimed and possibly dead but I still hate it. And I'll keep using it until it stops working, which may be the apocalypse.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Damn. I really want one, but I already have a Colt .45 and the weight is the same. Is it this one?

Speaking of hogs, I'm outside all the time in NW Florida and have never seen one or evidence of them. OK, two came to my house, apparently lost, but I've never seen them in the wild. Horror of mine as a sounder would level my camp in the boonies. Where they at?!

[–] TexasDrunk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

It's that in black. That Colt is going to feel much better, though.

Northeast Texas. I've got a buddy up there with some land and we have to go clear them out a couple of times a year. They tear up everything. He lost a dog to them a few years ago and now we go out there like clockwork instead of waiting for them to get closer to the house.

P90, it's Secret Service sponsored entrapment.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

A p90 and not a complementary Five-seveN?! How unamerican.

[–] roguetrick@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Kids just primarily prefer a handgun cartridge that's suitable for putting into a rifle for game hunting. It simplifies what sort of ammunition to carry in their backpack. .45 long colt or .357 magnum should do the trick. 10mm auto if you're dead set on semiautomatic.

[–] HowManyNimons@lemmy.world 54 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Lunatics put blades in those things.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They're called bayonets, sir.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

He's talking about the ones in the licking hole.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

No no, no, the lunatics put trigger locks on those here.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 34 points 2 weeks ago

This is how you stop school shootings. Good kids with guns stop bad kids with guns.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 28 points 2 weeks ago

Give some kids some candy, they eat candy for a day.

Give them a handgun and they eat candy wherever they fucking want.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 28 points 2 weeks ago

Lawful evil kid standing behind a tree spawn camping the newly armed trick or treaters

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I always eat a few of their bullets. That's called the Dad Tax

[–] YtA4QCam2A9j7EfTgHrH@infosec.pub 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I hope they have at least 15 rounds each in them. Not a those shitty California clips.

[–] neanderthal@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (7 children)

clips.

Magazines. Magazines include a feeding mechanism, usually a spring. Clips just hold bullets together.

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Very pedantic for a neanderthal

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

Neanderthals were fairly progressive, mancaves came later.

What's up with Lemmy getting me to look up guns today?

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Texas got its power back and is posting again.

[–] doingthestuff@lemy.lol 2 points 2 weeks ago

Shooting guns at paper targets, sporting clays and other targets is tons of fun.i took my MIL to a quiet outdoor range to shoot for the first time in her life. A few months later she bought a Glock 17. Reduced capacity magazines because California, but she loves to go shooting.

[–] KrapKake@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

🎶 Kids With Guns🎶

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

probably would find that out here in the boonies further back

[–] Allonzee@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Wait, does Halloween even exist outside the US and its hat?

I thought it was just an us and our hat holiday.

Id imagine it exists everywhere the Catholic Church went. Most places likely didn't commercialize it to people like we did though.

Think it's called All Saints day in some places

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

In most of Europe, tomorrow evening most people will go to the graves of their former relatives and light candles, it is quite beutiful.

I am considering bringing my trusty kerosene fuled storm lantern for both ambience and finding my way in the dark chruch yards.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Do they give you your free candy when you get to the graves or is that later? When do you get the sweeties?

[–] notsure@fedia.io 2 points 2 weeks ago

not funny...funny...

[–] neanderthal@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They all have mags in them. Hopefully they aren't chambered.

[–] bluewing@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well maybe only half of them are loaded. Have you priced ammo lately? It's getting more and more costly to fill a high capacity magazine these days. Let alone that many!
