Nononono. JD Vance, please keep that Apple watch on and make sure you keep your Apple phone on too with DeepSeek installed. You might even want to ask DeepSeek for tips about your work.

The OPSEC of the new administration so bad, there are so many opportunities here for China, Russia, Iran, etc...

What’s the over under on Apple Watches having a back door to make them explode?

[–] notfromhere@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 week ago

Probably true for any lithium battery with a bms that can be reprogrammed through a software update.

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago

And every remaining US agency is about to have a dozen more fucky wuckies injected into them by dipshits who think they can code in COBOL because they have an LLM open in another window

What about for US citizens who want to get their country back?

[–] BelieveRevolt@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The US sucks, why would you want it back?

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

Indigenous people on the other hand should have their tribal lands back

To be serious, your average citizen can't really do too much to take advantage of this kind of thing because it takes a lot of resources that are only really available to state-level actors.

That said, if some random person does manage to take advantage of this and Luigi's Vance and Trump, I'm all for it.

True, which is why he should keep wearing it.

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 38 points 1 week ago

counter point: never take it off and apple watches should be known as "JD Vance watches" because of how fashionable, cool, innoventative, and technologicalatedly literated wearers tend to be.

If you don’t believe us, we encourage you to reach out to your newly appointed Director of CIA John Ratcliffe and Director of National Security Agency (NSA) General Timothy D. Haugh for a demonstration of our capabilities. You will be amazed.

To be clear, we are not anti-technology or troglodytes. We are big fans of Apple and believe the iPhone and iPad are two of the most consequential products of the last century

Idealogues 🤮

But decades from now when you move on in life, the watch you wear over the next four years will be a talisman of your service to this country and treasured by your grandchildren. Unless it's an Apple Watch, in that case, it will be in a landfill.

data-laughing what a goober

Personally, I wear a cheap Berny Titanium Automatic I bought direct from the factory in China. It was like 70 bucks, the fit and finish is as good as any Seiko I’ve owned, and the dial and luminosity is 10x better than any watch I’ve owned save exactly one Seiko that had special die or something. Plus, unlike any other watch brand I’ve seen, I could order the dial face plain with no brand logo. Shit is clean. Also uses a japanese Miyota movement, it keeps time very well.

$70 watch gang rise up! (Timex Expedition wearer myself)

[–] Tom742@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago

Love the Expedition, such a timeless design, that indiglo is gorgeous. I used to have an expedition scout and the ticking sound it makes is why I became interested in an automatic watch!

[–] TraschcanOfIdeology@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Those are some fugly-ass watches he recommended. Leave it to feds to have nearly unlimited resources and shit taste. Especially that faux-rolex visible-disgust

lol, the job of guys like this must’ve been so much easier when the president was a guy who wouldn’t give up his blackberry than now.

So how cooked am I being an iPhone user? Camera? Microphone? Jotting down stream of consciousness notes into their Notes app?
