I will lay down on the border to keep Chinese vehicles from entering the US market.

Do it. What are you talking about it for? Do it. Go lay down on the border in front of the vehicles.

[–] Cummunism@hexbear.net 43 points 4 days ago (1 children)

plz plz plz lay down in front of a moving vehicle, preferably something with treads. i would be SO owned.

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

Hamas and I would hate it if she walked into traffic. Skipping across an interstate with a blindfold is the best way to support Israel.

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 29 points 4 days ago (3 children)

The BYD super car just bunny-hopping over a Senator at 100 mph would be fucking amazing to see.

This just makes me want a Chinese vehicle more

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 62 points 4 days ago (2 children)

They're already tariffed over 100%, this does virtually nothing JFC I hate the-democrat

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 47 points 4 days ago (1 children)

listen, cia lady wants to lie down in front of a container ship, i say we let her.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 30 points 4 days ago

As a matter of fact, we should legislate that the CIA members all need to help her in this vital matter to defend US national interests

[–] DefinitelyNotAPhone@hexbear.net 40 points 4 days ago (1 children)

More importantly Chinese cars don't get safety tested by the DoT in the US, so they legally can't be registered to drive on public roads. Otherwise there's a fair number of people who'd just eat the cost and import one with the tariffs and still end up with a cheaper, better car than buying a new American-made one.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I've seen a few around with US plates, BYD in particular

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago

depending on the state there's probably some shit you can do like how you register a custom build

there's also some foreign driver exemption but i don't know anything about it other than a let-them-fight video between a rural pig. and some gulf state oil money freak driving a car that costs more than my parents house.

yes-honey-left Can I have a cheap small EV for getting to and from work?

the-democrat $90,000 lifted SUV coming right up

[–] miz@hexbear.net 26 points 4 days ago (2 children)

what people really want is an enormous truck that you need a stepladder to get into, but still somehow has a bed only one meter long

[–] Bobson_Dugnutt@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago (2 children)

meter

Get out of here with that commie metric bullshit. We only measure in football fields here.

With democrats like these, who needs republicans? Also big laugh at people hyping evs up to be the solution to climate change. Oh, okay, I'll just spend $250,000 on a car then.

[–] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 33 points 4 days ago

You could spend 10k or less if we could, you know, just get them from china

[–] DoiDoi@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Obviously EVs are not the solution to climate catastrophe, but even without the better and cheaper Chinese made models they still aren't baseline 250k. I drive one that I got a few years ago for about 20k, and it was just 1 year used. Works better than any gas car I had ever had as well.

Please do not take this as an endorsement of cars. Given the opportunity I would ban them worldwide right now lmao

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 45 points 4 days ago

Lmao just washed absolute desperation

[–] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 40 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Biden already did this by imposing 100% tariffs on them you fucking witch

I love her look. Every choice reads as "flat" and "matte". No buttons; jacket fastened with hooks. Plain nails. Navy on navy on navy poly. No jewlery. Complexion not too touched up. Padded shoulders and loose drape to avoid any wild shapes caused by natural silhouette. Ironed hair. A crazy kind of collar I don't know that name of, it's like a mock collar. It is actually sewn into the main garment. So you don't get any out of control edges.

A picture of restraint.

These days glossy is a lot more fashionable. I think it's cool she's like a paper doll.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago (3 children)

it looks like when they're trying to do "future fashion" in any american show/movie from the 2000s

"oh we've traveled to 2030 and people here don't use buttons or colors"

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

One of the biggest issues I have with Star Trek is that they never really imagine futuristic art in a communist society, whether that's drawings, video or music. It's just not there.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago

i kinda like Picard's casualwear when he goes to his ancestral vineyard in one episode (tng, not the damn Picard show) but it's still very plain, like a feudal japanese farmer or something

Why does her profile picture look like Jesse in breaking bad when he inflates his jumpsuit because he's so bored waiting?

[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 39 points 4 days ago

look at my opposition party dawg

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 37 points 4 days ago

who wants to start a gofundme to import a Chinese EV to be hauled over her body at the border?

because remember blocking traffic in protest in many of those states means you can be run over legally and the driver gets immunity from prosecution.

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 32 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

The 145% tariffs already take care of no Chinese vehicles ever coming in do they not? I mean I know democrats are absolutely useless and aren't actually an opposition but at least they need to try better at pretending to care.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 37 points 4 days ago

you would think so but the BYD Seagull ($9900 USD equivalent price in China) would be competitive with low end American cars even with a 200% tariff

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 26 points 4 days ago

Biden already implemented 100% tariffs on Chinese cars, now those tariffs are at 245%. Chinese cars are effectively banned.

[–] Enjoyer_of_Games@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago

I disapprove of what Elon Musk says but I'll defend to the death his right to EV market share can-excuse-1

[–] orcrist@lemm.ee 17 points 4 days ago

God she's such a racist piece of s***. If the goal was to keep Americans safe, she would be trying to strengthen American safety standards for all cars, regardless of the country they came from. If she was trying to protect Americans' privacy, she would create a new privacy law. If she was trying to protect American workers, she would raise the minimum wage, expand national pension and health care, and strengthen worker protection laws.

But she didn't do any of that, because she doesn't give a damn about the Americans. It's all about saying how China is evil, and pretending that the American companies aren't just as bad when she knows they are.

Ladies and gentlemen ---- you're resistance.

She's the Dem who spoke after HitlerPig's State of the Union, and immediately validated the Dem leadership fantasy that there were a vast number of Michigan voters who voted a straight Democratic ticket, except for HitlerPig at the top, and the MAGA Nazis won "fair & square."

There probably were a few, but they're as rare as white squirrels, and not an actual movement. The Dems would rather sell this ridiculous fantasy, than be forced by their constituents to do their fucking jobs, and confront the most evil administration in American history. And she went out there to confirm to the MAGA Nazis that they were officially off the hook.

In 2028, the DNC will be pushing her for President, instead of ANY progressive candidate.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 4 points 4 days ago

maybe-later-honey she's the most qualified!

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They really want to be Rainbow Republicans

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

Lathe: democrats will rebrand and call themselves “the Tory party”.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago
[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

What do you want the Republican to win? Typical tankie. Always letting perfect be the enemy of good.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

My first immediate thought was that is an incredibly unfortunate second name for a female politician to have.

Ok. That puts less people in danger than what happened the last time democrats went wild with the anti-China hysteria and started shooting missles at weather balloons. This level of cowardice and immaturity is astounding. You would think the China's inexplicable but very real genocide in Xinjiang would also be a good reason to not import their cars, but somehow that wasn't on her list. Imagine getting this level of political power and doing yellow peril bullshit instead of threatening to fight all of your colleagues if they don't raise the minimum wage.

[–] hankthetankie@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago

Whatvgenocide ? People getting jobs?

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

I would like to take Senator Slotkin up on her offer to lay down in front of a Chinese vehicle.

so much for the free market they force on us (so they can sweep in and crush our industry)
