Democrats have blown millions of dollars on efforts to appeal to “American Men,” who turned to President Donald Trump in droves on election day, in the hopes of winning back the working class, according to a report.

Democrats have spent $20 million on their efforts, with donors and strategists holing up in luxury hotel rooms brainstorming how to convince working-class men to return to the party, according to a New York Times report.

The plan, code-named SAM, or “Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan,” promises to use the funds to “study the syntax, language and content that gains attention and virality in these spaces,” according to the report.

As the Times described it, the reports “can read like anthropological studies of people from faraway places.”

The effort also recommends Democrats buy advertisements in video games, among other things, the Times reported.

Imagine finishing an online Match or beating a boss and getting this cutscene

"flattened-bernie"im once asking for your financial support"

“Above all, we must shift from a moralizing tone,” the plan urges.

Democrats have “lost credibility by being seen as alien on cultural issues,” McCrary added.

Giving every American man a blowjob has a bigger chance of electoral succes for them than any of their other hopeless plans to try and appeal to chuds.

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 58 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I personally do not want a blowjob from Joe Biden, aka a "joejob".

Nothing says appealing to the working class man like spending millions at luxury hotels.

Jesus Christ. The floor is actual leftism, and the democrats are in fucking space trying to out conservative the conservatives.

"How do we win voters back?"

"I know, we'll just copy what the republicans are doing"

"Isn't that what we've been doing since 1992? Doesn't that coincide with the long road of people having less faith in us to actually get anything done?"

"Well, yeah, but it's bound to work this time"

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 61 points 1 week ago (23 children)

Dems can't go left because going left alienates their donors and donor-serving geriatric leadership. At most they only want strategies that pander vaguely left without following through and even the pandering is a bridge too far for most of them.

Dems are fine with losing. They don't really believe in anything aside from neoliberal warkhawkishness that would make Reagan blush, so they feel no psychological damage from being unable to enact policy. And they are personally economically just fine with lossrs, they can use them to solicit money and positions by being the "lesser evil'.

Democrats have “lost credibility by being seen as alien on cultural issues,” McCrary added.

The issue isn't that the democrats are "alien on cultural issues".

The issue is that the cultural issues are elevated above the issues of general everyday survival facing the majority of people. Bernie never really opposed any of the cultural or identity issues of the left, he even vocally supported them, but he remained widely popular because he prioritised the issues of everyday survival that all working people have.

You don't become alien by caring about cultural or identity things. You become alien by behaving like there is nothing else at all of any importance or value besides those things. It makes you look like an out of touch sheltered bourgeois alien from another planet that knows nothing of struggle faced by the average person every day.

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

well fixing the everyday issues is a nonstarter so clearly the only thing to do is find the right mix of racist dogwhistles

How do I get in on this grift?

[–] Chana@hexbear.net 41 points 1 week ago (8 children)

Gain minor cred by doing some PMC Dem bullshit (work for a campaign, be a liberal in a union and shmooze with politicians, etc) and start a consultancy. Or work for an existing PMC Dem consultancy and steal clients to start your own.

The Democratic Party is 90% consultancies like this keeping its "thought leaders" well-paid through a combination of party funds and direct donor funds, funds directed to carry out "strategic" work in the directiom defined by donors.

Speaking with American Men: A Strategic Plan

Okay first of all this is not SAM, it's SWAMASP. Use all the letters, you cowards.

In this vein, a superior acronym is very accessible: Speaking With American Men: Planning Action Strategies Synergistically

Bruh, you dont have to spend millions. I know it will probably blow their minds, but they can try going to places where working class men are to learn how to win them over.

But of course the democrats are a fundraising org. They cant do anything that doesnt require raising and spending millions.

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I have to imagine "spending millions" for them isn't the same as "spending millions" for us. For us, you spend the money and get a product and in so doing no longer have the money. For them, when they first have the money, it's the democratic party's money, but they personally want the money. Therefore they have to spend it on consulting themselves and their friends for putting ads in video games (an agency that they and their friends probably run) and still being racist (a pastime). Then the donations cease to be cookies in the cookie jar and cookies in their hands, as it were. That's when they spend it on renovating summer homes (for airbnb), some kind of slop that's covered in gold leaf, and a big useless bland green lawn.

Why don't they just use their AIPAC money and pre-cognition stocks to do that? Why didn't Van Gogh just ask ChatGPT to make a Ghibli style picture of the night sky? The love of the game.

When Bernie Sanders had popular support from working class men the democrats denigrated his entire base of support as berniebros.

Two paragraphs in and theyre already tone deaf.

Theyre quite literally handing working class jackasses to republicans. Weaponized incompetence or what?

every time dems put something out it just shows how freakish and detached from reality they are. Your platform sucks and people fucking hate you! Average Dem plan. Step 1: Identify the people who hate you most and are least likely to vote for you. Step 2: Immediately other them by treating them like aliens or babies that you only understand at an academic level. Step 3: Identify the worst parts of their opinions as the only way to reach them, and adopt them as the party platform. Step 4: Lose.

Paying corporate consultants $20 million to 'means test' ... how to fucking talk to ... the largest, second largest? demographic of constituents and voters ... which is like 85% of a politician or political party's... entire fucking job...

Making policy proposals is not that complicated, thats what the wonks are for.

Yep, this is the most 'Democrat Party' thing I can think of.

Yep, we are so fucking bad at our jobs that we are now just contracting out the most fundamental component of it.

Oh dear lord I hope I can get residency in some other country within the next couple of years.

Instead of studying how to manipulate us, maybe try uh... studying what we want? And then tell us how you're going to give it to us? And then make good on your promises? Fucking scum.

It kind of feels like the only thing they're studying is increasingly stern ways to scold us and demand our obedience in the same breath.

~20 years ago you could still find lots of democrats primarily committed to raising the minimum wage and making it easier to organize unions. Democrats should try that again. They definitely won't.

It’s kind of worthless pursuing any strategy when the states the party wants to do better in have hidden methods of vote counting, failure to do recounts, and exit polls off by enough to ring alarm bells. They would flunk any United Nations review.

The fact the above is not even an issue, shows how out there and insane USA politics is, and how not simple this whole mess is
