Image is Israeli interceptors trying and failing to intercept missiles over their cities.

Israel just carried out a widespread bombing of Iran, which has killed a number of senior officials inside Iran (though it seems the leadership is more-or-less intact) as well as a number of civilians. Important facilities have been targeted, but the amount of damage is unknown so far (note that many important Iranian facilities are deep underground, making them both hard to damage but also hard to determine if they are damaged from just satellite imagery, so reports of damage will be he-said-she-said).

It appears the attack took Iran by surprise, given that a residential block was targeted that contained some senior officials - if one saw an attack coming, one would imagine they'd be in bunkers. Nonetheless, like the rest of the Resistance Axis, I suspect that Iran has adapted their military structures to be resistant to decapitation strikes by ensuring that replacement figures are ready to take the place of killed officials.

Iran has delivered a massive missile barrage in response to Israeli aggression, even though Israel is continuing to bomb Iran. Iran is now aware of the location of many important Israeli sites, including secret nuclear sites, due to their recent intelligence haul, giving them a distinct edge.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.

Minnesota, U.S.:

A man described as impersonating a police officer has apparently shot state senator John Hoffman (D) and state representative Melissa Hortman (D) at their homes overnight. Their spouses were also shot. ~~Condition unknown for all victims.~~ See update.

Suspect impersonating police officer is still at large - notably before planned protests today. On the off chance someone here lives in northern Minneapolis, avoid cops with extra fervor today.

More Info:

spoilerThe first shooting occurred at the Hoffman residence around 2 A.M.. Cops exchanged gunfire with the suspect as he left the Hortman residence around 3:30 A.M. and found that his vehicle allegedly contains a long list of names and addresses. The manhunt supposedly involves "hundreds and hundreds" of police officers.

Updates:

spoilerMelissa Hortman and spouse have been killed. John Hoffman and spouse are post-surgery and prognosis is "optimistic". Source

Sidenotes:

spoilerMinneapolis police may be stretched thin today between this and the protests. Reportedly, all 201 state lawmakers are in protective custody and are described as having a police car outside their homes since the shootings. Additionally, "hundreds and hundreds" of cops are participating in the manhunt. Planned protests start at 11 A.M. CDT.

Sorry in advance, I'm ADHDing on this comment lol

We can't know for sure until the suspect is caught. To me, it seems like a far-right politically motivated assassination because both victims were democrats. But it seems a bit random.

Melissa Hortman, is the leader of her party in the split 67-67 state house and is an advocate for pro-choice, commuter rail, and solar energy initiatives. She seemingly holds a good amount of political power as far as state politics go.

John Hoffman is a previous minority whip in the state senate and chairs the Human Services Committee. Shooting him seems strange from the information I can gather. Hoffman doesn't seem particularly notable in the senate. Also, the suspect would've had to drive maybe 10 miles between shootings.

The suspect might have planned to go house to house among state democrats? Nothing major in recent state legislative news seems to have prompted this. I'm guessing the suspect is just some MAGA psycho.

Update: Police allegedly exchanged gunfire outside the Hortman residence and found a long list of names of state legislators in the suspect's vehicle.

Hortman did not survive, Hoffman is in stable condition

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 41 points 4 hours ago

Almost certainly not, but they're Democrats and the right wing in America can look directly at Democrats doing all the right wing shit they do and call them communists because they're completely ignorant

If Iran is serious about 2,000 missiles in one day, then that's most likely the largest missile barrage since WW2

The damage to Israeli infrastructure would be immense and force the settlers to cower in bunkers for the better part of a day

[–] RuthBaderGonesburg@hexbear.net 33 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

How many missiles does Iran have?

[–] spudnik@hexbear.net 40 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I for one am excited to find out

Israel claims 20,000 - 100,000

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 12 points 2 hours ago

That's total missiles. Missiles with the range to hit Israel are estimated between 2000 to 4000.

[–] BilduEnjoyer@hexbear.net 21 points 3 hours ago

That’s a pretty broad estimate.

Brigadier General Hayat Moqadam, Member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee:

'If we had carried out True Promise-3 earlier, Israel would never have attacked us like they did, but this was prevented (by some circumstances).

If we want to restore deterrence and secure our rights, now is the time to enter into an all-out war with Israel, and we will certainly achieve victory.

The U.S. may help, but they no longer have the economic capability of handling a long term war.'
