Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

i-do here we go....

Given Paramount made a statement honoring the brave fascist genociders of isntrael and Jon did that whole let's honor fascists at Disneyland thing but he was in the past able to critique isntrael as a Jew - a reserved "Well that's something interesting...."

It's February of 2004 and I'm watching the daily show about a war in the middle east being waged by an unpopular President.

I’m glad to be unplugged enough from corporate media to never have heard of this: Jon Stewart honors Azov Battalion at Pentagon-funded Disney World event

[–] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 16 points 9 months ago

They sure do get a lot of love from Jewish comedians.

He is going to have one episode where he is blaming muslims for Biden losing.

Omg could he be the one to say tankie live on air??? To refer to the leftists not voting for biden

This just screams of desperation, the show has lost its cultural impact and they’re hoping a throwback will return it to the glory days.

Dad finally came back with the milk.

And that's a good thing?

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 20 points 9 months ago

The milk is spoiled as it's still the same jug he bought when he left. He never stopped holding on to it. It looks green and it's half full of moldy curds.

It would be genuinely amazing if he just pretended it was 20 years ago and just did Bush/War on Terror owns.

Trevor left months ago, they've apparently just had a revolving door of comedians on to keep it lurching along, it's still going to have that from what I can tell, Stewart will only be hosting one day a week.

[–] Gorillatactics@hexbear.net 15 points 9 months ago

He saw a miner's protest while on holiday and joined the local police force charged with suppressing it.

This is just desperate. That show hasn't been relevant since the Bush administration. Trevor Noah was insufferable from the start and Stewart's smarmy persona is something you can get just from browsing Twitter threads for free.

our long national nightmare is over

I don't like this reboot of the early 2000s, can't they come up with something new?

[–] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 9 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

This time is different. They are taking the phrase "Let's go to war with Iraq" and completely replacing the last letter. It is truly a new world.

[–] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago

War with Iran was the goal of the 2000s, they just failed to actually execute on it.

what an embarrassment for Trevor Noah, oh my god

edit: didn't realize he already left awhile ago and now it's a multi-host thing. still though, his entire run on the show was embarrassing

Problem with Trevor Noah is he just didn't get American politics and social issues. The material you use in South Africa will just not translate to the USA. It's completely different contexts. For instance, a party like the Republican party would be struggling to get above 5% of the vote in South Africa, yet in the USA it regularly wins elections. There is no equivalent to the modern US Democratic party in South Africa, as all the mainstream liberal political parties in South Africa, such as the Democratic Alliance (DA) have alienated black people and the black vote.

And that's not even talking about identity and how differently both countries societies see social issues around race, gender, status, etc. For instance, Trevor Noah would not be considered black in South Africa, but in the USA he is considered black. That's just one of many major differences that can make telling jokes about social issues difficult. He tried to a bit on it once, and it just fell flat.

Yeah, I'm betting the context is a little different this time. Who better to put a very familiar and relatable Jewish face on Zionism and apologize for our fascist-in-chief, saving the hard-hitting criticism for anyone who might rival him thanks to Genocide Joe conducting the current genocide.

I think it'll quickly become apparent to us leftists that Stewart's sold his soul to buy his spot back onto the network.

[–] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

It might very well be. He already had his One Good Shot against the establishment and the whole thing could be a Biden hail Mary public opinion play.
