It's an office job vs blue collar work thing. Officw jobs have an expectation you don't smell too strongly, so morning shower, deodorant, a small amount of perfume/cologne in the morning. Blue collar work doean't have that expectation and the work itself is more likely to make you sweat, so it makes sense to shower after work and before living the rest of your life.

Office worker here.

If you shower at night your bed stays way cleaner because youre clean when you get in it and then you're still clean in the morning.

I really don't get why there's two sides to this unless you shower twice a day.

If you get clean, and then get in bed and sleep until the morning, you ought to still be pretty fucking clean in the morning, otherwise you need to wash your bedding more often.

Morning shower helps wake you up

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

This kind of makes office cycle commuters blue collar in this scenario. You can usually escape the sweat in the cooler hours of the morning, but that 16:00 asphalt hell 40°C shit on the way back hits hard

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 18 points 4 months ago (1 children)

One office I worked at actually had an on-site shower because the C-suites liked biking to work, but only the C-suites were allowed to use it.

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

"I fucking love paying for parking spaces either indirectly or directly" is the kind of brain genius level thought that gets people to the C-Level

[–] BGDelirium@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

I bike to work everyday and I think I'm just lucky enough that my sweat doesn't stink. Or at least people don't tell me that it does over the course of 10 years at my job in different offices

Hate that everyone gets a street parking pass, worth probably hundreds of bucks a month, but a supposed bus pass for me is MIA

If you have as many roommates as I have you shower at the weirdest possible time to make sure no one else will be in the bathroom when you need it

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah, in my household the long shower people have it in the morning. :/

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 20 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Best showers are the ones you drink beer in regardless of time of day

I'm going to sleep now so will not respond to messages. I will not shower when i wake up

If you live anywhere hot and humid, you kind of have to do both lol, though one can be a quick rinse. Sometimes even with dry heat you have to shower both in evening and morning if the heat is really bad. Going to bed sweaty or waking up and getting dressed while sweaty sucks.

shower in the middle of the day on company time galaxy-brain

[–] ObamaSama@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

Yeah this one’s me, I only wake up ~15 minutes before work starts and usually get sidetracked catching up on stuff. I’ll then take a shower some time during the day when there’s a lull, about to take one right now lol

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

Shower in the afternoon because in the morning I'm all groggy from my nighttime meds.

[–] iByteABit@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Shower at night after getting filled with microbes on and off the way to work to keep the bed clean, and it relaxes me before going to bed.

Also showering in the morning is bourgeois because they get to avoid spending all day in some open space office and public transit swarming with sick people

[–] Spongebobsquarejuche@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

Evening shower gang; Who's up?

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

[–] nocturnedragonite@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 4 months ago

Just shower at whatever time you want?

[–] abc@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

The best shower is a night shower, the second best shower is laying in bed listening to someone else's morning shower

Everyone shaming people who shower in the morning is sexist

becauseVagina’s leak slime and/or blood often and I like to start off my day with a clean slate.

[–] PsychedSy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 months ago

NIGHT SHOWER MY BELOVED THERE IS NO OTHER OPTION (unless you're planning to work out immediately in the morning ig, in which case whats the point)

.but then obvously you don't wake up in time to work out before work meow-tableflip angery

[–] NapoleonBlownApart@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

Shower at night because it keeps your bed cleaner.

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

No showers for anyone. Gimme that bar of soap lib!!! meow-anarchist

[–] macabrett@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago

I like to shower before bed. I've got inflammation in my spine and it helps ease the stiffness before bed. Because of said inflammation, I don't leave the house much so I don't really have to worry about whether or not I smell good in the morning, but I'm pretty sure I'm fine in the morning. If I do have to go out, I'll wash my face and splash some water through my hair or something.

[–] GaveUp@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I work an office job, often have night sweats from Zoloft or withdrawals and still shower at night, don't let the sinners give you any excuses

If you're a healthy weight, it takes a lot of sweating to actually smell bad. Unfortunately, the average American is p overweight

[–] Formerlyfarman@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

I shower when I get home, because COVID. I try to arrange all outside activities so that I only shower once a day, but sometimes I have to go out for unexpected emergencies and end up showering 2 or 3 times.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago

Evening shower for winding down and getting in bed all clean and comfy

[–] AlpineSteakHouse@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Longer shower in the morning with soap to get you fresh and clean for the day. Short shower in the evening to get the dirt/sweat off so your bed stays relatively clean.
