Can somebody shoot the ICE agents already? Your stupid guns are all show. No difference whether you have any at all...

[–] Psythik@lemm.ee 7 points 1 hour ago

The problem is that the wrong people have guns in the US. Most of the left ignorantly believes that they can get by without, when half the country is armed and is practically begging their god emperor to say the word.

[–] mic_check_one_two@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

I’ve personally heard a few people say that’s exactly their plan. It’s basically “I’m a citizen but I’m brown so I’m fucked either way. I might as well make em work for it since the end result for me will be the same regardless. If I’m gonna get taken down, I might as well make it worth it. Why wait to die in an El Salvadorian prison, when I can go out where it’ll at least make some headlines?”

Again, I have heard several people say things like this individually. I fully believe it’ll happen eventually, as soon as they try to stop the wrong person.

[–] rational_lib@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

I'm gonna guess this sort of thing is more the rule than the exception. The goal isn't to deport actual gang members, it's to signal a tough-on-illegal-immigration policy without the challenge that comes with actually deporting people who aren't trying to be found. So they just deport law abiding people who are easier to find because the reality doesn't matter.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 points 1 hour ago

also dont want to scare off too many "illegal immigrants" that are being employed by red states that sustains thier economy too.

[–] Freshparsnip@lemm.ee 39 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Well Trump essentially made it official yesterday that even if someone is imprisoned by mistake it will not be reversed

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 23 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

And if you are someone he doesn't like, for your views, your skin color, your accent, your sexual orientation, your gender, your education, your occupation, your ethnicity, the way you look at him, or how you don't fawn over him enough or fall behind with your protection payments, he'll have you "accidentally" kidnapped and imprisoned for life or until the Salvadoran authorities decide you're a waste of resources and kill you.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 13 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (2 children)

Bottom line: if you weren't born here, you're getting thrown out, and NOTHING will stop them, including a Green Card or Naturalization.

Eventually, it won't even matter if you were born here, and are a full natural American-born citizen, from generations of American-born citizens. If they don't like you, you're gone.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 9 points 1 hour ago

They're already admiting they are targeting US citizens.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

This is why he's selling those dipshit citizenship gold Visa's. He gets your money and he'll still just send you to El Salvador.

Of course, realize that being a natural born us citizen isn't going to stop them at some point. When they have eliminated whomever they deem a problem, it won't be missing accomplished, it will just be time to modify the parameters of who a problem person is

[–] boughtmysoul@lemmy.world 23 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Both the American and El Salvadoran heads of state have stated that neither is able to return people sent from the US to CECOT.

In other words, this man will die in CECOT.

[–] superkret@feddit.org 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

That sends a chill down my spine. If neither heads of state can return the people, that can only mean that they're already dead.

[–] Cryophilia@lemmy.world 1 points 3 minutes ago

We might already be in the "death camps" phase of fascism.

[–] KamikazeRusher@lemm.ee 73 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

According to the original article, he was here legally waiting until their court date in 2027 to see a judge. He is not a US citizen, but he also is not an “illegal alien.”

No alleged history of crime. No crime in process when detained. Was following the immigration process.

If anyone wants to argue with you about others who have been detained and deported as being “criminals” or “illegals,” this should be evidence to the fact that it isn’t true and ICE doesn’t care. We’re in the slippery slope now.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 8 points 1 hour ago

There's no slope. We're at the ''you didn't stop this when it was stoppable''

[–] SpacetimeMachine@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Now? We're damn near the bottom of the mountain at this point.

[–] kooks_only@lemmy.ca 8 points 5 hours ago

I really fear that this is just the beginning of much worse things to come.

Looks like if you re approached by ICE, you need to assume it's a kidnapping.

[–] Wilco@lemm.ee 16 points 7 hours ago

Indeed, do not cooperate and fight back. They are NOT a legal authority. If they have a uniformed officer with them (state or city), demand the officer arrest you instead. It MAY be worth it to cause a scuffle and get arrested for assault, which could be dropped as self defense. I'm not a lawyer though, just my opinion. You have to fight these assholes. Get the low level pukes into court and tied up fighting charges. Make them scared to do their master's bidding.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 158 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

And being sent to El Salvador is a death sentence. I would act in self-defense appropriately.

[–] Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 86 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

Glad to hear it. State law is not your friend, and now, it's your enemy. If you're targeted, the vest that says POLICE (or ICE) means nothing. They are just people in a fancy outfit. They're still there to intrude and fuck up your life.
Laying down doesn't save these people any more.

Because it 100% is a kidnapping. This is so freaking dangerous and entrapping.

[–] Fingolfinz@lemmy.world 37 points 13 hours ago

And compliance will not save you

[–] raoulduke85@lemm.ee 25 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

At this point, you’re fucked, might as well arm yourself. Rather go out like that then be tortured in a foreign prison.

[–] whodrankarnoldpalmer@startrek.website 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

This, or republican representatives growing a spine/conscience, are the only ways this stops.

The first of those is a non-starter, so what I’m saying is, this is the ONLY way this stops.

I’m Canadian who hates guns, and my wife is Bolivian. We live in rural Saskatchewan, but in light of “51st state” talk we have have purchased firearms and hit the gun range a few times in the last couple months. Do we think the two of us can stop the US military, should it come to that? Of course not. Have we had the conversation about what we would do and what we’re willing to sacrifice together for our country? Goddamn right we have. We have a pretty good life and are fairly well off- but we’re both absolutely fine going out together and taking out as many MAGA shitheads out as we can, if needed. If we had young kids the calculus would maybe be a bit different- but we don’t, and it isn’t.

All this to say, if we lived in the US, we would absolutely be armed to the teeth.

[–] raoulduke85@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I know I mentioned reacting with violence, but I’m at a crossroads. I’m in a red state. Do we put our heads down and wait for an organized resistance? Do we go blasting? Thing with violence is, it affects more than the intended people. If I were to actually fight against the forces that be, they would also go after my family. Everyone around me seems to think guns and blasting away…but violence definitely has a consequence.

I’m also drunk rn and don’t know what else can calm my nerves for this timeline. The only thing that brings me hope is being a community organizer and seeing the hope in peoples faces. I’m doing the most I can in a non-violent way. I’m scared when I have to make that decision to change the course.

[–] whodrankarnoldpalmer@startrek.website 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

What don’t understand is- if the US “left” is so committed to non-violence, why have we not seen a tech-rebellion? Why is there no cyber-“terrorism” or white hat hackers fighting this shit? Democrats have spent the last four decades loudly and proudly insisting that they’re smarter than the ignorant conservatives- so why aren’t they hard at work at outsmarting them?

Without that last resort, violence is going to have to be what it comes down to.

[–] raoulduke85@lemm.ee 2 points 57 minutes ago

Totally understand, but violence dose have consequences to those you love. That’s why I’m at a crossroads.

[–] ryan_e3p@lemmy.world 165 points 15 hours ago (6 children)

No gang ties, no criminal history, not even from that country.

We are the baddies.

It's a shame, there was a scene cut where Captain America walks by a building showing graffiti art of his helmet with the word 'fascist' in red on it, causing him to sigh and toss it off. I don't think he wore it again until Endgame, where they incorporated it into the time travel suit.

Wish that scene should've been kept in, and had a bit more focus on Steve Rodgers questioning if he truly was working for organizations that believed what he did. A crisis of faith moment for him instead of a quick 3-second pass with a joke from Hawkeye.

Lol, the "fairness meter" says unfair left leaning. The article is literally just stating what occurred. ❄️

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

Reality has always had a heavy leftist bias.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 10 hours ago

Facts have a liberal bias.

Forcibly remove first, ask questions later is going to soon end up kidnapping random people out of the country...

Conservative excuses and goalposts will adapt as we go along:

  • but look, he was supposed to be deported anyway (Abrego Garcia)
  • doesn't matter that he has a valid asylum case, he came here illegally so he should be kicked out (Gutiérrez)
  • If you don't want to support America, you shouldn't have a green card (Mahdawi)
  • he looks like he came from out of the country and he helps illegal migrants anyway, too bad he's a US citizen
  • these were people spewing violent rhetoric about Trump and America, take them out of the country if they don't want to be here
  • hey wait, this is a mistake!? (future kidnapped Conservative)
[–] JuxtaposedJaguar@lemmy.ml 4 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

(Formerly American) Conservatives in CECOT: You can't detain me, I have a rights!

Trump administration: Do you feel like you have rights?

[–] flandish@lemmy.world 27 points 13 hours ago

“Soon end up” … my dude, it 100% already is. This article is exactly that. A random kidnapping and booting.

If anybody is wondering what conservatives think, they haven't yet gotten their instructions for this particular case yet

Wilmer Gutiérrez last spoke to his son on March 16 during a brief call allowed by police. He had spent days searching for information, visiting police stations and courthouses, only to be told there was no record of his son.

Are American law enforcement just reading Nazi history and emulating it at this point?

"Oh yeah, they did this in 1942 so we should do that too!! ... Kristallnacht? ... oh yeah, we gotta do that one too! ... and book burnings and maybe a giant parade or a mass rally with flags and shit"

[–] JeremyHuntQW12@lemmy.world 3 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

More like the Cheka in the Soviet Union that just kidnapped anyone they found on the street to meet a quota.
