It's just positive racism. No different from thinking Asians are all good at math. Positive racism is still racism.

I hope Dugin realises that the cardinals are locked into the Sistine Chapel and can't see his posts

[–] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

That's not true. The conclave starts in 2 weeks. Cardinals are very much still out in the real world, and there will be a sort of conference before the conclave starts where they'll openly discuss the state of things before voting.

A pope not believing in God certainly would go against tradition

Writing down which Hexbear posters I'm not inviting to my Catholic standup set based on missed opportunities to say "Opus DEI" blackbeard-writing

[–] Xenomorph@hexbear.net 68 points 1 day ago (3 children)

An incredible bit would be reaching the level of pope in the catholic church while being an atheist.

[–] Parsani@hexbear.net 43 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I'm imagining a guy who just really likes the cardinal outfit and through a series of mishaps becomes the pope.

I will hand it to him that it is traditional to believe in God when you are being considered for the position of pope.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 29 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Place your bets that the nazis at the Anti-Communist Party will start saying "Robert Sarah for Pope, or else you're a woke racist!"

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 12 points 20 hours ago

Wish the car bomb would have killed him too explosion

[–] Parzivus@hexbear.net 39 points 1 day ago

It has been funny(?) seeing some conservative catholics swallow their racism to support this guy since he seems to hate Muslims and gay people more than the other candidates

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 13 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

This would actually result in US Catholic s declaring him the anti-Pope and then selecting their own True Pope.

Thought this guy got hit by a car bomb or something a few years back. Sad to see he's still around.

Edit: Nevermind, that was his daughter, I misremembered. My day is now a bit worse being reminded he is actually still alive.

[–] dannoffs@hexbear.net 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If it's any consolation, she also deserved it.

[–] jUzzo6@hexbear.net 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

What is this? Now we critically support Banderites or what?

[–] dannoffs@hexbear.net 1 points 2 hours ago

No, it's critical support to fascists for dying. She could have died in a plane crash for all I care.

What does it mean to endorse a pope. What do I do with that endorsement?

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 2 points 9 hours ago

Not much since 1274 im afraid

Historically speaking, yes.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish 9 points 19 hours ago

Probably the only one not bought was the most recent. But with the rise of right winged bs, I wouldn't doubt ; the family, heritage foundation, federalist society..... , wouldn't put their monetary thumb on the scales.
