To the people expressing anger at the voter:

The immigrants in question were here on a valid visa with pending asylum trials. They were here legally and he hired them legally.

Him being upset is a good thing. It’s one person whose mind may start changing. We need A LOT more people to be willing to face their decisions and then admit they don’t like what they’re seeing.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Right. Part of the problem is self-righteous people thinking in black and white.

Trump promised to deport illegals. Of course there won’t be any impact on documented immigrants.

People who think this way also tend not to be able to synthesize the larger answer based on other info, such as Trump promising to act as dictator from day one or trumps complete lack of empathy and respect for the law, or the amoral sycophants he put into leadership positions

Every president has deported undocumented immigrants and we don’t usually object too much. If that’s what was happening this wouldn’t be as big an issue. The problem is when it’s clearly racist , or depriving people of human rights and due process, or done by a bunch of thugs cowering behind masks while holding themselves above the law, or brutalizing witnesses and spreading terror., or kidnapping people from schools, churches, courthouses. Was this voter able to connect the dots?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 7 hours ago

It's good that he's upset, but he still voted for it and should not be surprised at all.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

His mind hasn’t changed though. T just made a mistake. He agrees with everything else t has done.

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

Multiple people are getting sacrificed and entire swaths of families traumatized all just in the name of changing the mind of one white guy…

[–] Ironfist79@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Sadly this country doesn't support mental health services.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 20 points 21 hours ago

Except he's not going to change. He's going to vote for the next Republican running for office. These types never learn.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 16 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You are 100 % right. And I'll still say fuck that voter. You vote Trump once, I'll think your a idiot... But ok... You vote for him a second time? Get fucked

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 5 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Probably a third time at this point.

[–] jimjam5@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

Fuckin’ TRIPLE TRUMPERS 🤮

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 8 points 20 hours ago

This is still what he voted for.

[–] drunkpostdisaster@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

I would be surprised if he changed. Willing to give him a chance, but I feel like its waisted.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 83 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Fuck that guy, he should go to prison for empolying illegal immigrants.

You see they never jail the owners of these business for the practice. Its all racism it never about American jobs.

[–] Smoogs@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

They Were there legally

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 36 points 1 day ago

The joke in all this.

The penalty for offering a job illegally is a slap on the wrist. The penalty for accepting a job illegally is imprisonment, torture, transport, and possible death.

Almost as though the fixation on "crime" is a distraction and the cruelty is the point.

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 22 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I’ve long said that if they wanted to actually stop illegal immigration, stop focusing most of your energy on arresting the immigrants and go after their employers hard. Nail every employer at any scale who uses them to the wall with fines and jail time. The practice will all but stop and almost no one will come illegally anymore because you have to make money to live in this country. It will cost far less long run and will make migrants start funneling through the legal immigration. Then make legal immigration easier so people are paying taxes and contributing to a society that desperately needs more labor. (Not saying they are only targeting illegal immigration here, just stating generally)

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

See, the funny thing though is that in this specific situation, the workers were legally there. They had gone through the proper channels. They had work permits. This has nothing to do with the law and everything to do with racism, xenophobia, and a power-tripping ICE.

So you're not wrong, but now even the people who are doing it right are getting punished.

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago

I’m sure Trump would have to fine and arrest himself.

[–] Willy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I was going to say bold of you to say they were undocumented. checked article. they weren't. maybe there's a little racism going on here too.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

No there is not, my point is the mega heads claim they are getting the immigrates out, (they don't care if they have green cards or legal here) because they need to protect jobs. Of course they are all on welfare too. So their no rationale with these fuckers.

And there is being hundreds of businesses mostly meat plants working illegal immigrants and not one manager or owner see a jail cell.

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think you failed to follow theor point. Their point is if undocumented immigrants in general are a threat, why are we not pursuing those that hire these people rather than the undocumented immigrants we are currently arresting?

[–] AdamEatsAss@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Republicans do not believe in prevention. Source: guns, immigration, healthcare, transit, education, and so on

[–] Zaktor@sopuli.xyz 31 points 1 day ago

These aren't undocumented workers. These are the ones "doing it right".

Adding to Scardina’s annoyance, the men had valid work permits and pending asylum applications, according to their attorney Regilucia Smith. “They are legally here,” she said. “Valid work permit, not even close to expired… again, no criminal records—not here, not in Nicaragua.”

Runs business dependent on under paying his immigrant employees.....votes for president that is claiming he will kick out all the immigrant workers.... profit?

How fucking braindead are these people? You'd think I would get used to being illuminated to just how ignorant a large sector of the population is, but every time it just feels like a kick in the teeth.

Hope this guy ends up fucking homeless.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hope this guy ends up fucking homeless.

Don't worry. We will all be homeless soon enough.

[–] gdog05@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

I'll have you know I've been eyeing a very nice one bedroom cell with only 32 roommates. So I've got that going for me.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago

May the leopards feast on face.

[–] j0ester@lemmy.world 12 points 23 hours ago

And this moron would vote for Donald again. They should arrest his stupid ass too, for hiring illegals

[–] bravesilvernest@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

gasp

mild shock

So frustrating to see this keep happening, where there isn't any anger until it personally affects them.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 7 hours ago

The thing is, the majority of them will still vote Republican unless maybe the Democratic party completely changes its name and rebrands itself

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

The Republican base is essentially all people like this.

[–] Bread_and_Circuses@reddthat.com 7 points 23 hours ago

It's upsetting every time I hear about another innocent person becoming a victim to this disgusting administration. I feel for the employees. I also hope he goes out of business. F* that guy

[–] ToadOfHypnosis@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago

I guess logic is hard for some people.

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why isn't someone arresting them? If undocumented people are such a problem why not go after the people who hire them?

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 day ago

Everything was on the level ... The real mistake was electing a "leopards eating faces" politician and thinking they'd only eat some faces.
