Spent the first half of the month struggling with gatekeeping and doctor turnover in the middle of the holiday, but I got my hormones set for 3 months comfy

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 40 points 8 months ago (5 children)

why are implants not more of a thing? you get some pellets embedded subcutaneously every 3-6 months, get really steady hormone levels for the entire duration, and don't have to think about it otherwise. I know they're more of a thing for trans guys but estrogen pellets are a thing for cis women going through menopause so it's not like they don't exist. but insurance won't cover them and it's hard to find doctors who will do them for trans women. death to cissexism.

So do all the grey market estrogen sellers just do crypto now? I never learned how that works and I don't want to now. Last time I bought my anime meme estrogen the seller could still accept paypal.

[–] Findom_DeLuise@hexbear.net 22 points 8 months ago (3 children)

God, I fucking wish she still took PayPal. The anime meme seller is only accepting crypto as of last spring/summer. It sucks, too, because her wallet is banned from CoinBase, so you have to use Binance to do the transfer, but Binance doesn't let you buy crypto with actual money. So it turns into this whole mess of having to by BTC via another service, wait for the holding period to expire, transfer it to Binance (and pay all the damn transaction fees, which really add up), and then pay from that crypto wallet. And yes, value often fluctuates wildly during that holding period, so you have to account for that along with the transfer fees.

It's really on-brand that the FTC slapped together a couple of ineffectual milquetoast crypto reforms (the waiting period and the Binance restrictions) and about the only ones being hurt are trans people.

If you just want oral or patches (or T-blockers), there's a Turkish pharma site listed on HRT [dot] coffee (note: the one whose fucking SSL cert isn't expired) that has worked for me in the past. Customs processing can take upwards of a fucking month, and the stuff is priced a little higher than average, but their payment processor takes regular credit or debit. Note: their payment process is sketchy as hell because it's through a third-party site and they send you the link a day or two after you make the purchase. There is absolutely some kind of obfuscation going on there, and if you have a credit card that lets you provide a virtual card number, I'd recommend doing that with an expiration period set on it just to be on the safe side. Again, though, I've ordered from them a couple of times and it has been fine other than the long customs delay and the lack of injectables. (Otokonoko still has the cheapest injectables beside OELabs, even with crypto fuckery factored in.)

[–] Babs@hexbear.net 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Damn this is a nightmare. I fortunately have a stockpile of pills, they're just super inconvenient and I'd rather have a few extra vials instead. Fluctuating value, transaction fees, wait times... It seems crypto is just straight up worse at being money than money is?

dragon ordnance accepts Wise, a popular and legit cash transfer app, last time i ordered

[–] silent_water@hexbear.net 17 points 8 months ago

you make an account on an exchange, buy btc, then send it to the address the seller gives you for the order. buying btc can take awhile and the exchange will only let you buy a few hundred dollars worth in a day because of money laundering rules. they want you to send btc because payment processors won't let them stay merchants due to the whole selling drugs thing. iirc coinbase will let you use a credit/debit cards after an id check (obligatory reminder not to use crypto for anything genuinely illegal because it's not anonymous - estrogen is luckily gray market).

I know HRT affects everyone differently and I have to be patient but JUST TAKE ME ALREADY AHHHHHHHHH WHERES THE CHANGES

Also I've been so bad about voice training. I want to blame the fact that I'm hardly alone, but I should try and get over my fear/shyness and practice with my girlfriend. It's so hard tho I've always been so shy about things like this that I think are embarrassing. I'm even seeing a voice therapist... she's gonna be so disappointed when I tell her I haven't been actively practicing outside of my drive home.

...can you voice train while singing? Is that a thing?

[–] Cromalin@hexbear.net 19 points 8 months ago

you can absolutely voice train while singing, or at least practice manipulating the relevant muscles

I had a moment of reflection yesterday that made me feel particularly good. I've been on HRT for roughly 17 months now. With all the changes that I've made to myself, I cannot recognize any semblance of my "old self" anymore in my current state. Even my wife says that there is almost nothing left of that persona. My looks have completely changed. My body has completely changed. My attitude is completely different (happier mostly, but also more femme). I've fully embraced my feminine self and thrown away all the masculinity entirely. It's like that person never existed. And I fucking like it that way. My life was never even a tenth as good as it is now, and all that really changed is that I am now moving towards the real me. Gods, I'm so glad I figured myself out.

Also, yesterday I asked my wife why she never calls me cute. She then said the following without hesitation, "I don't see you as the cute type, but more as the sexy type." hyperflush

I've been settled with my weird futch identity for a while now but it might be fun to try voice training. I wasn't interested before, but moving to a new city seems to have put me into a mood to get more femme

ok so a few years ago i discovered my visual snow isn't just "vision being weird" and its a specific and currently poorly understood thing. Hadn't thought about it for a while, but just this morning while unable to sleep due to stress from being out of hormones (for a few days now), I first realized I heard a faint tinnitus-hiss, then realized I was seeing the usual visual snow, then realized that I think those have both been missing since I started HRT months prior (only noticing its reappearance). definitely an interesting lead for neuroscientists if HRT gets rid of visual snow + mild tinnitus, and I'll post an update when my hormones finally get here.

reading downthread about gray market estrogen makes me happy i have some experience in that already.

i'm a bit out of the loop on what's current but can probably answer basic questions about crypto transfers etc. usually i have to do a full day deep dive to catch up on all the current quirks in the gray/black market world

i'm probably going to start DIY soon even if it's a bit scary but my state is teetering on the edge of being trans neutral or going full "your name is now on a list for future fascist death squads"

new unjust depths chapter! posting in the trans mega and in the main mega, because if you're either trans or a communist you have no excuse not to be reading it

in this chapter someone who knows how politics works is forced to chat with a liberal and realizes just how batshit she is, while another woman has a high school reunion with a fascist. meanwhile, with the a team on a mission the b-team all learn a bit about biology and muse on imperialist extraction. shenanigans ensue. a princess continues to be proletarianized and learns about how her ex is doing. and solidarity between tendencies reaches its limits quicker than anyone could guess
