Helldivers 2 is a little niche slapstick comedy hardcore tactical coop shooter. Ezcept, to the surprise of literally everyone, the niche turned out to be like three million plus sales and it now holds a record for concurrent players on steam, having eclipsed games like destiny 2.
It was made by a nice little studio of about 100 nordics, and there isn't really anything else like it, and it is the thing in gaming right now.
It's about fascist space dorks who get fired out of a giant gun at a planet to murder aliens and androids for the glory of their fascist Super-Earth, which is space natostan. Everyone insists they "get" the satire, but very few people actually do, because they think the satire is lol fascism is silly and not "western liberal democratic institutions are a thin charade justifying imperialism and there is little if any meaningful democracy in the west as we plummet in to woke rainbow fascism"
It's a delightfully fun and silly game that is also very deep and challenging.
