It’s maddening that they even had to ask. Our legal system sucks.

Edit:

On Saturday, Jones was defiant, saying “At the end of the day, we’re going to beat these people. I’m not trying to be dramatic here, but it’s been a hard fight. These people hate our children.”

I can’t even.

Yes because he's the epitome of a children's advocate

Yes, but he's lost custody of his children to his first wife.

Fun fact- he couldn't remember details about his children in the hearing, and attributed that memory lapse to, and I shit you not, the fact that he had a "big bowl of chili for lunch."

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 22 points 5 months ago (2 children)

That needs to become more widely known, both as a story and as a legal tactic: The Chili Defense

[–] TK420@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

Brings a new meaning to “Red Alert”

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

If they eat chili, convicting is silly!

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The man is half actually crazy and half faking crazy. Statements like that make no sense for a grift. Why not just say you're stressed?

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 7 points 5 months ago

At the time, his lawyer argued that Jones is just a performance artist. But honestly, I think it's much more likely he's a paranoid schizophrenic. He just wholesale invents reality to be whatever he wants it to be when it's convenient for him and his grift. I honestly think he doesn't have a grasp on objective reality any longer.

Damn... You a special kind of evil

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 131 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I hope they take everything from him. I hope they take his fucking toothbrush. He should be left destitute and alone in a fucking hole in the ground.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 25 points 5 months ago (8 children)

I don't want that. I want him to have safe and secure housing, with no food insecurity, medical care, and plenty of hygiene supplies.

And I want him to realize, every fucking day, that it's because the people he attacked and villianized are better than him.

[–] GoddessNoAi@lemmynsfw.com 67 points 5 months ago (1 children)

So ... Prison, right? We're talking about prison?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 22 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I mean, I didn't say he should be free to mix with civilized people, let's do some prison reform while we're here.

[–] GoddessNoAi@lemmynsfw.com 12 points 5 months ago

1000% agree on prison reform.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (3 children)

That doesn't describe prison in reality, maybe in some crazy idealized world that isn't this one.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 5 points 5 months ago

But it could be. Think about how it could be.

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

It does actually in many countries and for some wealthy people in this country.

I can appreciate your intent, but some people are beyond saving. This is one of them.

I want that too. But, since that's clearly never gonna happen as evidenced by the fact that he's sniveling about how unfair everyone's being toward him during the last of his shows, I'll settle for the first thing.

[–] InternetUser2012@midwest.social 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Nah. He's an asshole and wouldn't care. He'd call them suckers. I'd like to see this guy working at mcdonalds while living out of his car.

No, do not let him loose again. Lock him up in a prison so he can't hurt anyone else, and ban him from social media.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago

He will never realize that

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Trash like him will never realize that. No narc ever appreciates the compassion of others. They just take them for granted.

He's already working to try to hide assets and move things to his (dentist) dad's brand new supplement company.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 93 points 5 months ago (2 children)

[Alex Jones] also listed his living expenses at about $69,000 for April alone

Goddamn, dude. Stop ordering DoorDash.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 48 points 5 months ago

He's fucking got house staff that takes care of his properties and his family.

[–] 0110010001100010@lemmy.world 30 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (9 children)

How in the fuck does someone even spend that much a month?! Even in some crazy scenario where me and my wife eat out every single night I can only get to like $2300 monthly for restaurants. Throw another $5k (high) for mortgage, grocery, bills, etc doesn't put me anywhere close. Hell, if you stayed at a hotel for 30 nights at even $200 a night that's only $6k. Lots of hookers and drugs?

[–] h2Odyssey@lemmy.ml 33 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I did a little digging - here’s something reported to the court:

“His July spending included $7,900 on housekeeping, $15,184 in prenuptial payments to his wife, $6,302 in maintenance and taxes for his vacation lake house, and $6,338 on meals and entertainment, according to court papers.”

Dude needs to get YNAB… or just cut back on the avocado toast.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 19 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The lake house and lavish entertainment budget need to be given to the victims of his despicable conduct tho.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Yup, and once those are sold he can keep giving the $6K monthly payments going to them. Sounds like he needs a $200 vacuum cleaner too, then he’s got another $7k to send the victims.

Edit: flipped the numbers.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 5 months ago

The majority is going toward his prenup. Good on his now ex-wife and her attorney.

[–] fuzzzerd@programming.dev 20 points 5 months ago

You're not thinking big enough.

  • Fuck eating out, hire a private chef.
  • 5k mortgage? Rich people have multiple houses at that price or more.
  • $200/night for a hotel, try 1200.

I'm not saying it's wise or prudent, but it's definitely possible to get there if you are behaving like a rich person.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 11 points 5 months ago

Stop being so mean! Cocaine is expensive, ok?

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago

He's trying to either get and hide or waste as much of his money as possible so that other people can't have it. He's already tried a ton of shady shit in the bankruptcy hearing (including somehow getting a massive bill from one of his father's shell companies), so it wouldn't surprise me if he's pulling shit like that.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago

This guy's veins are at 1,000 PSI from all the cocaine he's snorting, that's one large expense you don't have.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

The most I can manage is a mean of $10k/mo.

Shoulda been done at the start

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 15 points 5 months ago

One can hope

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Just gonna drop a bright spot on you today: if you don't, listen to Knowledge Fight on your podcast app of choice. I'm sure this + Alex's weekend broadcast are gonna make this week's episodes spicy.

Also, if you're already familiar with KF, I wanna plug Kudos who does little animated shorts from various KF episodes.

[–] Xbeam@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I've never heard of Kudos before and I can't thank you enough.

And the KF coverage of this past weekend is incredible. You know things went nuts when the episode is 3 hours, 45 minutes long.

[–] hypeerror@sh.itjust.works 10 points 5 months ago

I'm wiling to pay 100 bucks for his subscriber list. Does anyone know anything about fund raising for cult reprogramming?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 10 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

Liquidation meaning sell all the office furniture, or make him an employee of his own business that got sold to the highest bidder with his wages garnished?

[–] realbadat@programming.dev 16 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Closing down the business entirely, selling off all it's assets, with claimants and creditors getting first dibs on cash.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

with claimants and creditors getting first dibs on cash.

And with any luck, Jones' parents wont get a cent of it before the lawsuit is paid out.
