Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

They want to ban pornography, then claim that same-sex couples showing affection to each other publicly is pornography.

[–] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 69 points 11 months ago (2 children)

And that trans people simply existing are pornography.

[–] TrippaSnippa@lemm.ee 46 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And give the death penalty to sex offenders, and classify pornography as a sex offense. See where this is going?

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago (2 children)

The death penalty is porn for conservatives.

What will they do then?

[–] TrippaSnippa@lemm.ee 17 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

"It's alright when I do it" is a core pillar of conservative ideology, so it's fine.

If there's one positive to take from it, I think it's quite the compliment to be considered porn walking.

Licks fingers to nips Tssss!

Now if only it weren't from that greaay cohort...

[–] rambling_lunatic@sh.itjust.works 13 points 11 months ago

To be fair, most of the book bans going on in Burgerland right now are justified exactly this way: they're "pornographic" because there's gay people.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 88 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And video rental?

Btw this is why they call everything a slippery slope. Because that's what they want to do.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 23 points 11 months ago (2 children)

There is still physical video rental outside of libraries? Even netflix shut down dvd-by-mail

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

And Redbox is going under.

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Going? I thought they shut down operations last month?

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Maybe they did? I thought I still saw a machine by the grocery store the other day.

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if they just abandoned the kiosks.

Toe-ing a fine line between larceny and litter cleanup to get there first.

[–] BlucifersVeinyAnus@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It’s a legitimate salvage.

Rent a white van, put on a coverall and nobody will even think twice about you taking it.

Actually you probably don’t need the coverall. Just some contractory looking clothes.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

High vis vest makes you invisible.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

This is exactly it. I see one every time I go to Walmart with a piece of paper over the screen/controls saying it is no longer in operation

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

This might bring it back! Playboy's next.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 67 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I look forward to porn winning the War on Porn like drugs won the War on Drugs.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 29 points 11 months ago (3 children)

There will be a lot of similarities, like how with drugs you never know what's laced with fentanyl. You'll never know what conditions your illegal porn is made in. After all, it's already illegal.

"Three local law enforcement officers were hospitalized today when, during a routine traffic stop, a hidden Hustler magazine fell open in front of them..."

[–] aStonedSanta@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

How do we know the honey pots? 🤔

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 60 points 11 months ago (2 children)

It's really amazing sometimes that so much legal and political policy is driven by men who are ashamed of their boners.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 11 months ago

It's kind of sad

[–] themadcodger@kbin.earth 10 points 11 months ago

Thank you, Puritans.

[–] lone_faerie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Don't forget, these are the same people who think trans people's mere existence is pornography.

[–] cordlesslamp 10 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That's because all of their porns are exclusively trans.

[–] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

SCOTUS' Uncle Ruckus ain't gon' like that

God save Long Dong Silver🙏!

“Who needs porn? Just call Jeffery and he’ll get you a girl to jerk you off with a glove on”

[–] Hikermick@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago

First they came for the communists...

Fucking puritan ass motherfuckers need to fuck off. This is no different than prohibition. It's stupid and they're stupid.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

I don't think that will work.

Some of this felt like they think they can get away with it, but now I'm starting to notice that they didn't exactly account for reality anywhere.

[–] Kiwi_fella@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

But, I like porn.
