Gasoline causes very serious harm. We should ban people from using it. Guns are extremely harmful if used correctly. Maybe we should ban people from using guns. Fentanyl, that harms people. Botox harms people. Oxygen can even harm people. We NEED to stop people from having access to oxygen.

Edit: I just realized we're doing everything wrong! The single most leading cause of death, out of everything combined, is life. Life causes death. It is imperative that in order to stop things from dying, we need to stop them from living! My God, why hasn't anyone thought of this yet! TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!!

[–] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 41 points 9 months ago (2 children)

if we are acting banning things that cause harm, why aren’t we starting with the worst?

Dihydrogen monoxide

  • is also known as hydroxyl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
  • contributes to the "greenhouse effect".
  • may cause severe burns.
  • contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
  • accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
  • may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
  • has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.

Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

  • as an industrial solvent and coolant.
  • in nuclear power plants.
  • in the production of styrofoam.
  • as a fire retardant.
  • in many forms of cruel animal research.
  • in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
  • as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

Humans are addicted to it as well.

If we go without it for too long our body reacts very negatively.

It has a 100% lethality rate. Every human to ever consume it has died.

It's so addictive we also die without it. In terms of addiction withdrawal that's as bad as it gets.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Ok, while I enjoyed this very much.. how does water contribute to the greenhouse effect?

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 20 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Water vapor makes a great insulator.

[–] BossDj@lemm.ee 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Is that the right word? Air is an insulator. A better insulator than water vapor. It resists the transfer of energy.

Water vapor absorbs heat from sunlight better than air (other non-greenhouse gases) and heats the atmosphere as a result.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You're probably right, insulator probably isn't the right word. You're describing it better than I did. Point being the hotter the earth gets the more water vapor, making things hotter still.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 3 points 9 months ago

I'm just a random on the Internet, not a climate scientist. You should ask someone who knows better than me.

[–] Pips@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 9 months ago

Being pedantic, but air usually contains water vapor, though not much.

[–] snooggums@midwest.social 20 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Wait till Aluto hears about dihydrogen monoxide!

[–] Sinkbath 14 points 9 months ago

Just ask the residents of Flint.

[–] macarthur_park@lemmy.world 11 points 9 months ago

More like “die hydrogen monoxide”. Get that stuff in your lungs and you’ll be dead in minutes.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago

Justice Samuel Alito causes very serious harm.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 9 months ago

Or alcohol, or cigarettes etc

[–] TechNerdWizard42@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

100% of people, especially women and children, exposed to water DIE. 100% fatality rate. Think of the poor babies! Ban it now.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 5 points 9 months ago

If Fentanyl was part of hippie drug culture in the 60s, then it 100% would be Schedule I.

[–] ivanafterall@kbin.social 5 points 9 months ago

Every single structure fire, forest fire, etc...has been fueled by that GOD-DAMNED oxygen. I've honestly given up on justice being served.

[–] PoopSpiderman@lemmy.world 74 points 9 months ago

Conservatives lie about everything. This should not come as a surprise.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 65 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Justice Samuel Alito himself ~~could cause~~ is causing very serious harm

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 20 points 9 months ago

Pseudoscience and quackery is causing immense damage.

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 47 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Man it would be so cool to live somewhere that doctors and scientists made this sort of decision.

[–] Whirling_Cloudburst@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

That would be cool. We would have to get rid of all the billionaires and theocrats first though.

[–] makatwork@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

Sounds good, let's do it.

[–] Tyfud@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

And I mean, religion in general needs to go if we want this to work.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 39 points 9 months ago

There's the face of women's health.

And you wonder why some people are cynical.

[–] theodewere@kbin.social 39 points 9 months ago (1 children)

i'm tired of that corrupt piece of shit, and all his corrupt friends there

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (2 children)

There are no legal pathways left to removing these people except to vote. But we've already learned that that has been compromised too.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago

When peaceful revolution is impossible, violent revolution is inevitable.

[–] JimboDHimbo@lemmy.ca 8 points 9 months ago

Boy do I wish we could vote justices in, and/or punish justices for being corrupt.

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 36 points 9 months ago

Oh really? And when did you get a degree in medicine, you sack of fascist shit?

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 33 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)
[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

Of course not. Then they’d actually have to resolve the cognitive dissonance that induces migraines on a daily basis

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 27 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago

Let me know when we are breaking out the fucking guillotines for these fuckers. This piece of shit and rest of them should be removed from office by force if need be. Because they are illegitimate and we should ignore their rulings.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 25 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Alito is a liar. Scotus is illegitimate.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 7 points 9 months ago

It's more than just being a liar. These "facts" get passed around in anti-abortion circles without being challenged. Todd Akin saying "If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down" is the same thing. They aren't strictly lying; they believe it's true because the people they talk to say this all the time and nobody calls it out. It gets to be quite the shock when their "fact" gets out to the public at large. Suddenly, someone says "no, that's not right, and here's proof" and they don't know what to do but repeat the claim and go ahead and do what they were going to do, anyway.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 24 points 9 months ago

I’d sooner believe mefipristone implying that “justice” samuel alito could cause very serious harm.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 21 points 9 months ago

Yeah, pretty on par with the honesty and integrity and intelligence that I've come to expect from one of the greatest of conservative minds.

We are fucked.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 19 points 9 months ago

A quick and easy guide for politicians, lawmakers, and judges when making determinations regarding questions of medications:

  1. Are you a trained and licensed medical professional? If yes, go to step 2. If no, go to step 3.
  2. Great, provide your honest professional opinion with peer review, proceed to step 3.
  3. Shut the fuck up.
[–] YeetPics@mander.xyz 12 points 9 months ago

I trust doctors to make medical statements, shit-smeared troglodytes are who I go to for supreme court decisions.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 11 points 9 months ago

Not to people.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 11 points 9 months ago

This guy wants to overturn Chevron.

[–] jaemo@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 months ago
